Need some advice on flavor

I am using a nemesis clone mech mod in 18650 mode. I'm running a steamcrave rda and an orchid v2 tank. I'm currently running the Ov2 at 0.69 ohms. I've run the steam Crave at anywhere from 1.4 ohms to 0.6. The Ov2 gets ok flavor, but I think it could be better. I don't get leaking or dry hits, but I do get a funny taste that is hard to describe. In my rda I can hardly taste the juice at all. I have 26g kanthal, a 2.4mm Phillips and a 3mm flathead that I can wrap with. I do not have a coil jig. I do not have the tools to build Clapton's. I tried twisted coils and didn't care for the way they performed. I need advice on how I can get the best flavor using what I have. I've tried Scottish roll wicking, I did get decent flavor out of one build but like an idiot I had to try different builds and have not gotten the same results even after going back to the build I had good results with, single coil, 6 wraps with a 2.4mm bit. Also I have two batteries, a 20A 1600 mah and a 10A 3100 mah. Right now I'm out of cotton, but I ordered some and hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I do not have money for batteries, a regulated device, different gauges of wire, or coil building tools ATM. I'm just looking for advice on how to get the best flavor I can using what I have. So please do not recommend different gauges of wire, Clapton's, or different batteries. Just tell me how to make the most of what I've got. I vape 3mg, and currently I have island tobacco, peachy keen and orange tic tac at my disposal. The island tobacco is the one I have the most trouble tasting. Currently I only run the orange tic tac in the Ov2, and all I taste is the orange flavor and a funny aftertaste, nothing else. With the peachy keen, I taste it but its very light and with the island tobacco it varies depending on the build but I can never make out the complexity of the flavor like I could when I first started vaping it. Can anyone help?

I'm thinking about giving dual coils another go, either 8 wraps at 2.4mm or 7 wraps at 3mm, 8 wraps at 2.4 would come out around 0.5, 7 wraps at 3mm would come out around 0.45, just not sure which is better.

I'm wrong, 7 wraps at 3mm comes out to 0.53, so both those builds would come out about the same.

I'm considering 6 wraps each at 3mm, comes out to 0.46 roughly, I'd definitely check it with my ohm meter before pulsing it, just to make sure my 10A battery could handle it. This is for the RDA, not sure if I should try the same build in my tank or not.

I have always been partial to twisted builds. Have had some sucessbdoing them with a cofeebcup andbabpairbod pliers to get them pretty tight. They seem more consistant with a drill though. Dual twisteds should be good in the rda. Try steam engine to get your specifics for wraps and battery limits.
I have an orchids 3.5, and I never had a lot of luck with it until I could use temp control, but I tend to burn my cotton without it Anyway. The mech I have used has only been 4 or 8 nimh, great battery life, hella vape, with the 8 due to the higher ohms one can then mech a car battery with the same builds, so if you get bored before payday rocked that style for a year after an ego went off on the house... Good luck

You might have used the island tobacco too much. In addition, it likes lower temperatures. Don't ask, how I know :);)
On a mech mod I'm using Airek RDA with 24g 9/8 wraps 3 mm ID => 0.444 Ohm

I built dual coils, 6 wraps each at 3mm, 26g and it came out to .54 when my coil calculator said it should come out to .46, but whatever I guess. Unfortunately my cotton did not arrive today so I'm not able to test it out to see what the flavor is like.

I have cotton balls, I tried microwaving them but couldn't get them dry fast enough so I boiled some and am drying them in the oven at 300 degrees, keeping an eye every few minutes to make sure they aren't getting singed or anything.

Well, I got a couple cotton balls dry enough to use, they aren't the easiest to work with but I managed. Tried to do Scottish rolls but the cotton didn't really stretch that great. Anyway, I'm getting better flavor than what I was. I think when my cotton does get here and I can do actual Scottish rolls, I will be much happier.

@Neunerball, I sent you a few more messages. I am not sure you got them. I just want to say, thank you again. Everything else I wanted to say was in those messages. So I just hope you got them. No need to respond unless you want to.

I tried some island tobacco and when that went dry, I dripped some peach on there and both flavors taste much better. I see now that my problem was that I wasn't getting enough heat with a single coil. These dual coils get very warm and give me the flavor I've been missing. Much happier now.

Forgot to mention, it's a dual coil build resulting in the 0.444 Ohm resistance. Each coil is wrapped as specified.

Yeah I'm currently running dual coils that ohm out at .53. It was .54 but one of the legs broke and I had to rebuild, so I rebuilt both and it read .53 when I was done. This is 6 wraps each around what I think is a 3.5mm pin. Cotton balls are a terrible wicking material lol, can't get both sides the exact same thickness so one of the coils is burning one side of the wick. Was happening before I rebuilt as well. When my cotton gets here, I'm gonna try the sushi roll, its a bit like the Scottish roll except you don't peel the outer layer off or stretch it out, you just cut the thickness you want, roll it into a tubular shape and thread it through. Hopefully my cotton gets here tomorrow.

Ok so I tried dual coils a couple times, same build both times, 6 wraps each around what I now believe to be a 4mm flathead (doesn't say on it and I don't have anything to measure it with). But it just wasn't working for me. Too long to ramp up. I like my vapor to heat up quick so I can get the flavor right away. So I built a single coil, 4 wraps around the same flathead. Ohms out at 0.78. It seems to be better, my battery is kinda low so I don't know for sure. I will know more when its charged in the morning. But seems like it heats up pretty quick.

I built a spaced coil last night, 10 wraps on a 2.4mm pin. Did not care for the flavor too much. Today I built a contact coil as I usually do, 6 wraps on a 4mm pin, and the flavor is much better. I am definitely seeing how Scottish rolls on a large diameter coil is a good, cheap way to get flavor.
