Back when The Crown's showrunner, Peter Morgan, announced that the series would undergo a recast every two years in order to properly depict the passage of time for the residents of Buckingham Palace, the news was met with intrigue, but also a good bit of skepticism. How do you replace an already fantastic ensemble without disrupting the chemistry and overall look of the show? Remarkably, Morgan is able to usher in the new cast led by Oscar-winner Olivia Coleman by crafting a captivating batch of episodes that explore the royal family's complex relationships with each other, and with their subjects. There might be new faces wearing those fancy clothes, but The Crown's third season has the same heart and soul that made its first two seasons so unmissable.
