New and Confused- Help w/ evod

Hello!

Okay, I know I'm going to sound completely clueless- I'm sorry, please bear with me! I figure that I'm probably doing something obviously wrong..somehow..and just not realizing my mistake.

I bought an evod about a month ago and have used it a handful of times because I keep having issues. One of a few things happens nearly every time I turn it on. The most annoying of these nuisances is the fact that the juice randomly starts leaking- even if I haven't touched it in days, I'll go to pick it up and realize it's been leaking all over the place. Assuming that's not happening, then the battery will begin overheating. My last problem, which maybe related to the previous, is a hit-or-miss overwhelming burnt taste.

To sum it up- leaking, overheating, and burnt.

Any help you could give me would be amazing! I really appreciate it. And thanks for enduring my naive newness.

I never had issues with leaking when I used EVOD's. It is possible the tank is just bad, or that it isn't screwed together tight. That'd be my guess.

EVOD's are cheap, I'd just but another one.

As far as overheating, it could be that juice leaked in the battery causing issues.

Burnt taste may be from the tank being flooded or the wicking material may be burnt.

Any idea where the leak is coming from?.

The evod is a pretty simple tank and only maybe 4 reasons one would leak.

1.) Cracked tank inside you may not see..(drop it before?)
2.) Firing pin insulator...Sometimes screwing the tank on too tight to the battery will deform the insulator causing a leak.
3.) Flooding...This can happen from just sitting sometimes..The wick saturates so much it can drip down into the 510 pin and leak into the battery.
4.) The coil possibly isn't properly tightened down into the base.

To clean out the flood...take the base off and blow through the bottom where it screws onto the battery using a paper towel on the other end of the coil and blow through it...this will clean out the juice inside the pin or top tube.

Take a paper towel and twist it up on one end so you can shove it down inside the battery connection to soak up the ejuice..Make sure the coil is tight and only screw on the tank enough to make contact to the battery and then stop.

Hope some of this can help..let us know.

Leaking: Try to figure out where it's leaking from. If it's from the plastic part, there may be a hairline crack on it, possibly from dropping it, or from a tank cracker juice (some flavors have been known to do this). If it's from where the tank meets the base, you may have popped out the o-ring (easy to do - they're clear, flimsy and pop out easily). Like Mike said, also double-check to make sure the head is screwed in tight.

The heat: are you sure it's the battery that's getting hot, or is the Evod getting so hot at the base that it's transferring heat to the top part of the battery? If it's the latter, and you're also not getting much vapor and it tastes burnt, just means you need a new head. Those are replaceable - just unscrew it from the base, throw it away (unless you wanna rebuild it - I did), and screw in a new one.

One thing to keep in mind - to many more experienced vapers, Evod is a clearomizer, or plastic tank. I know they make glass versions now, and they have a line of Ego (pen-style) batteries named Evod as well. What exactly are you referring to?

1 - Leaking - if you've got a traditional plastic Evod, one possibility is you've used a tank-cracker juice (citrus, cinnamon, and licorice flavors are common culprits). If this is the case, you need a glass tank for those juices. Another is you've dropped the tank and broken something - the solution here is again a new tank. You could have also experienced a pressure or temperature change - higher elevations (like leaving the tank sitting in the car for a drive through the mountains) or heat could thin the juice and cause some to seep out. The wicking material could also be wearing out. I'd first determine if your tank is still good - if so, try replacing the head. If it may have been heat/elevation related, just clean up the mess and try to continue vaping as-is.

2. - Overheating - if you've got an Ego-style (google it if this doesn't mean anything to you) battery and it's getting hot, there's a problem, and it's probably not worth your time or safety trying to rectify it - go get a new battery and don't try to use that one any more, period. Please dispose of the old battery properly - I have a box full of old household alkaline cells that I drop at community toxic waste drop-offs a few times a year, they've taken dead e-cig batteries from me before.

3. - Burnt Taste - that bad battery could have fried the wicking in your coil. If you've already determined that your tank is in good shape, try a new coil. Let the juice soak into it for a few minutes, maybe even take a few "primer puffs," or pulls on the tank without engaging the battery. If you get a dry hit, with little vapor and a slightly burnt taste, stop immediately and wait a minute, with a couple more primer puffs before trying to hit again. If you try to hit your device with a dry coil, it'll burn your wicks and everything from that point forward will taste like roached newspaper.

Hope this helps - let us know how it goes.

Well lets keep in mind that some people use authentic Kanger Evods and there are 5000 clones out there. I have had both, If you could send a pic we might be able to tell you more about the issue on the tank.

I think there's a problem in the tank .. I used to have evod and it was not bad ..and now I'm using the peso V2 VGOD Edition I really like it ....
