New coil funkyness

I use the M2 .15 ohm coils in my baby beast on my smok stick v8 and new coils always have a burnt like taste everytime I change them for first half tank or so. Does anyone know what causes this? Wondering if there is some coating or something on the wire that's maybe burning off can't think of what else it would be. It's not a priming issue I can drip juice all over it and let it set in the tank overnight before fireing and it's still going to have that funk once it goes away it doesnt come back.

What is it with the damn SMOK coils? Maybe they are just over-packed, or wrapped too tight, or something? I used to think it was mostly user error, but when this many users are having problems, I shift the blame back to the company. I had a few of them like you describe, and I just assumed it was me most of the time. Usually they sorted themselves out after a few pulls, sometimes half a tank, and on the rare occasion a whole tank. I ultimately went to the rba section, and put the stock coils in the stash.
*Rant over*

You could try pricking the cotton in the wicking holes with a needle to speed up absorption. Also take a few pulls with airflow nearly closed, without firing the mod. Or do what I did, and build your own lol.

Least I know it's not just me now. Ive actually been think about going to an rba but haven't really had the time to learn everything I need to know to man sure I don't blow myself up.

The rba comes with a decent pair of coils. Good enough for you to determine if you prefer it to the stock coils, anyway. And they should last long enough for you to learn to make your own, or you can buy prewrapped. You'll just have to learn to wick it properly. We can help with that, too.

Using pre-built coils in an RTA is easy peasy. Even I was able to figure it out and have even started building my own (very basic) coils. :) There are tons of videos on youtube to help, as well. I'm always watching videos to learn more and more, but then I have a lot of free time and an overwhelming urge to research shit. :teehee:
