The American dream as become a nightmare for vape shop owners and their employees
A nightmare that ends abruptly on August 8th 2018
I have a friend named Rolland that I went to high school with. He started off in business selling hardware with his Dad. an upstart company called Home Depot opened up a large store, and the hardware business with his Dad went tits up. He then opened up a store selling high end audio and video equipment. 5 years later a Best Buy opened up and his store went tits up. He started a lawn care company and was quite successful, then a Tru Green franchise moved in and under cut his prices with illegal immigrant labor (he hired only U.S. citizens and Aliens with work permits). After that he opened up 3 Vape Shops in Kokomo Indiana in 2013. He closed his doors last week and 12 people lost their jobs due to vape hate legislation. He now works at a Home Depot making $9 per hour as a clerk/cashier, making roughly the same amount of money that he did when he worked with his Dad 30 years ago. There was no way he could pay the taxes and comply with the regulations and keep his shops open and his employees paid.
