New Guy Searching for VAPE... NEED HELP!

Whats up guys?!

I'm new to the vape scene, as in i've never owned one, but i've used tons of vapes that my friends have owned. That being said, I've been told to come here to ask...

What is the best vape for a new guy in the $80-$150 price range.

I'm a crazy hookah smoker and i really want a vape that can take me away from the hookah but still provide the nice fruity flavors with the crazy "clouds."

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Welcome to the Underground!

Good price range.

Do you want some thing you can fill up and forget or something you have to mess with every few vapes?

Well i'd prefer something i can fill and forget until i have to fill it again... If i only have to mess with it a tiny bit and its simple, i don't mind that either.

Welcome to the VU.
Were/are you a smoker?
I'm sure you will see that there are hundreds of different setups.
But most of us agree that get a back up of what ever you get.
I like/use a Nautilus mini with a iStick 30watt, using 50/50 juices.

Just me, but
Don't use nicotine.
Don't vape (no one knows the long term effects of vaping, but we are all betting that it's safer than smoking, and is a good way to quit a known bad habit.)
It's your body, do with it what you want, but take care of it, what you do to it now will catch up when you are older.
Yes, I'm older and wish I had taken better care of this body when I was younger.

Honestly i've used nicotine free liquids on my friends vapes and it was awesome. I smoke A LOT of hookah so I'm trying to substitute that with a vape. Hookah lounges are draining my wallet and i don't want to own a hookah pipe!

It could actually happen sooner rather than later. I have to agree with RMarcusY here. I began losing my sight far too young then after I was found to be legally blind due to loss of peripheral vision, it wasn't too many years that went by before I ended up in the doc's office & thankfully, Mom had been in his office the previous day. I told him this was far worse than the average arthritis. I know my body's taken a beating from abuse at the hands of a 'questionable' birth father & enabler of a birth mother, & then my adrenaline junkie lifestyle, which some call my 'suicide days' where I pushed the envelope doing everything from cliff diving, free-diving, rock-climbing, motor bike riding in the dunes, & taking my Ninja to work in DC & interstate traffic while on my bike vs taking the truck (but in all fairness, I drove a jacked up Jeep Pickup w/in-cab 2 to 4wd change-out & that truck could go most anywhere & I took it to hell & back numerous times but it was also a gas guzzler whereas my bike was more cost-efficient even though it didn't provide much protection from other vehicles, esp in bumper-to-bumper traffic & my winding my way through the traffic jams while along the way pissing off other drivers but I was also raising a much-younger sibling as my own child so I had to be at the school, a private school, at a certain time to pick him up or call Dad to see if he was able to leave the office to get there in time & I hated doing that b/c he had a life too. fyi: That Dad is the one I believed was my birth father only I was left to presume he died when I actually found him within several months or less after moving away to another state & came across his name in the phonebook & it turned out to be the man I thought was my dad & afterward, just as when I was a little girl, he was Dad!).

After blindness had time to settle in & get worse then change course where my central vision & corneas were being affected along with my joints & the pain, the doc thought back to my surrogate mom having been in his office & knew that autoimmune diseases run in my family so he ran an autoimmune disease panel that Friday, which is when I had the appointment & first thing that Monday morning I rec'd a call telling me to go to such-&-such rheumatologist, neurologist, orthopedic specialist, & a few other specialists to be named by the first 3. As it turned out, I had been in remission & NEVER HAD A CLUE I EVEN HAD THESE DISEASES! They've been kicking my butt for more years than I can to remember & it took right at 6mos for a full & definitive answer as to what exactly I had, which was a list of autoimmune diseases along with the damaged areas of my body they had caused in the time I was being told it was "all in your head," or the old standby, "with all the crazy stunts you've pulled & broken bones, it's just arthritis & nothing more. Take 600mg ibuprofen 2x a day and come back in 6mos." Well, I was back in the office of the doc Mom saw and when I ended up in the rheumatologist, neurologist, & orthopedic specialist, I had x-rays, blood work, clinical exams, MRIs, CAT Scans, and even a Bone Density Scan. It was the last one that caught their attention. As an adult child of abuse, they all (even the tech) noticed the spiral fractures & even military-style fractures & splintering that are generally caused by abuse, which was true b/c the man I was told was my birth father was drafted into the Army & did his tour in Vietnam then came home an even bigger drunk & asshole than he was before he left only he married my birth mother & she was crazy enough to stay with him despite his beating her while she was pregnant! Then later came after me & finally after my younger sibling, which is when I stepped in & picked fights to get him off my sibling b/c the kid was so small and so spindly I was afraid he was going to hurt the kid if not kill him. It reached a point for him & me where things became so intense it wasn't going to be but a matter of time before either I'd take his life or he was going to take mine & I had no plans of dying before him... That's when I emancipated & gained legal guardianship; however, all that damage from the fights & the BS things I did such as drag racing, riding my bike too aggressively while weaving in & out of traffic to get to the school before it let out (I was working 2, 3, & sometimes 4 jobs by then.) but there were a lot of damage I did to my own body by being reckless but then again there was the damage from fighting a drunk, pissed off man more than twice my weight & a foot taller than me that left its mark as well & I'm paying the price now.

You never know when life is going to change. I can turn on a dime so pay attention & treat your body better. I wish I had. It wouldn't stop what is happening but maybe it wouldn't be as bad. And no, I'm not saying don't have fun. Just take some extra precautions & care for your body since it's the only one you will have, at least in this incarnation.

No i don't smoke ciggs. I'd probably use very very little nicotine.

Okay, so since you haven't researched any devices on your own, I'm just gonna take a shot in the dark and tell you to get a Kanger Subox kit for about $50, an extra 5-pack of coils for another $15 or so, an Efest LUCv4 charger for $20, a pair of Samsung 25R batteries for about $12, and then another $50 or so worth of 0 nicotine juice to hit your $150 budget. That'll have you vaping on high-quality equipment and with plenty of liquid for at least a month, at which point you'll know whether or not you like vaping and you can decide to just buy some more liquid and throwaway coils for the Subtank that comes in the Subox kit or to try and upgrade. That system will blow what I started with out of the water - 2 years ago I was doing about 3/4 pack a day of cigs and smoking 3-4 bowls of hookah a week...had a pretty sick 4-hoser until it got stolen after a party at my buddy's apartment (where this pic was snapped, incidentally)...hookah at mooses.jpg

You could also go check out my beginner's thread here:

Then come back and let us know what questions you have, or you could go shopping for a few specific devices and from there we can help you narrow it down to what you're looking for...

^^^^^what he said!!!
That kit is the best, complete starter kit on the market. The mod will last you for a good while and is more than capable of providing you with a stellar vape. I'm jealous about the cool stuff available for ya'll to start with now, lol
Also, if you don't smoke or use nicotine now, stick with zero nic, juice. No sense in starting a chemical addiction. the majority of us(at least me) started vaping with the intent of getting away from it. Other than that I didn't listen when I was a yungin, so no judgments, just had to say it. My place is not to preach just help you guys start off smart and stay safe.

Good advice above. I second the motion to spend $100 - $150 or so to get a good first set up. If you're not already addicted to nicotine, avoid it.

Grab a Sigelei 150 (70), a nitecore charger(12), Samsung 25r's (12), and any subohm tank i recommend a atlantis v2 or a or a triton. leaves you with a little room for a couple of bottles of liquids.

I used to hookah as well.
Many hookah users do not know this...

Hookah smokers are exposed to 100 to 200 times the volume of smoke inhaled from a single cigarette.

Compared to a single cigarette, hookah smoke is known to contain higher levels of arsenic, lead, and nickel, 36 times more tar, and 15 times more carbon monoxide than cigarettes. This is because smoking a hookah requires taking longer and harder drags, increasing levels of inhaled nicotine and carcinogens in the lungs. The longer the hookah session, the more nicotine and toxins one takes in. A 45 to 60 minute hookah session can expose the smoker to approximately the same amount of tar and nicotine as one pack of cigarettes.
