New Protank rebuilding

I like my kayfuns, but I really like rebuilding my protank 2s, but all the new pts have the duel coil heads and are a pain in the ass to rebuild. Do you guys think something similar to the pt 2 will come out or do you think they will stick with the duel coils?

I'm assuming they'll stick with the dual coil heads, at least for the time being. They just made the heads compatible for their whole line so I wouldn't expect them to start back on single coils....

Ive done both a dual and single on the new heads...honestly I like the single better. 28 wrapped around a atty screwdriver..6 wraps. Cotton.

It took some trial and error of the size of the coil. I originally used a paperclip. My suggestion is to make sure the cotton can move freely inside the coil. Make sure you leave a space at the bottom and use a small amount of cotton for the flavor wick. The more cotton I find more gurgling and floods

I rebuild all my protanks single coil... I haven't tried building a dual yet... because single makes me happy for the time being.

As for gurgling.... I recently started wicking with yarn and it takes all the guesswork out of it for me, and consistently works like a champ. I wrap around a 1/16 screwdriver/drill bit and use 3 strands of yarn through the coil and the 4th I use as a flavor wick on top.

well for protank 2 you can still get the single coil heads from other places like slowtech i know still sells them i know there not kanger but if ur like me and just use the body of them it really makes no difference and btw i have found that 30 awg kanthal is the best for single coil protank heads i do 6 wraps on a 1.5mm precision screwdriver no flavor wick needed NEVER have ANY problems

The trick I've found with rebuilding Dual coils into single coils is to make a large enough microcoil where the cotton fills the bigger gaps. I use a 2mm micro screwdriver to wrap on (same size as 5/64 drill bit) and wick the coil before inserting into the head and pinch the cotton on each side to hold the coil in place. See pictures below...

Once I clip the cotton I fluff the ends to fill the gaps. Been building this way for months and I've never had a flood, gurgle or dry hit. The only downside is I can't dry fire.

I saw somewhere that if you take the single coil heads and put an extra plastic grommet over the first one that the old heads will work. Haven't tested it as I have stayed away from the dual coils, so far!

yeah on the duel coil units you put a single coil head in and take the rubber thing off the top of a duel coil head and place it upside down on the single coil head i use that trick all the time works like a charm

I rebuild protank 2 with 10 wraps 28 gauge and i get 1.6 ohms single coil with cotton and they last me a long time ...just change the cotton every 4 or 5 days !!!

ive been doing 8 wraps of 28 gauge over 1/16 drill bit. yarn inside and on top for wick. works great. I replace cotton every two days. Not sure how long the coil will last.
