Hello All!

With my local vape shop stopping their house juice.. I've accumulated enough glass bottles/plastic tubes 30mg to start DIY on juices..

From what I gathered from about an hour's worth of internet reading.. Here are some things I plan to pick up..

1 LTR 100mg NIC BASE - $43.50
https://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/unflavored-nicotine-smoke-juice-e-liquid-liter-sale.html
VAPORJOE13

VG/PG 2 Gallons
http://www.essentialdepot.com/category/VG-GLYCUBE.html

glyCUBE - 2 Gallons Propylene Glycol & 2 Gallons - PALM DERIVED Vegetable Glycerin - USP (pharmaceutical grade)

For the flavors.. I planned to go to RTS to get flavorings..
As for mixing stuff.. If anyone has any recommendations on the supplies I need in terms of glassware, that would be great..

And FINALLY..
I'm going to try and mimic one of the house juices they have.. Which they told me was also another clone of name brand juice.. It's from Zombies ICE-olation.

If this is not the right place to request information on that or if I am not allowed to, I apologize and will edit the post.

If anyone has any additional suggestions as to vendors, brands, etc. please let me know.. I understand for a first time DIY making all these purchases is a bit much.. But I do plan to use them up.

I typically vape @ 3mg nicotine and go through about 15-21ml juice a day.

Thank you!

You're in the right place, and you're not getting too much, IMO. I personally don't see the need for additional glassware, such as beakers, funnels, that kind of thing, unless you plan on mixing LARGE mixes at a time. I mix directly into the bottle.

If you plan on mixing by weight, you'll need a scale that measures to .01g. If mixing by volume, get some syringes. I always used 1ml, 5ml and 10ml syringes the most.

Good luck and have some fun!

Thanks! I will see if one of my friends can get a hold of some syringes for me, if not than I will be sure to contact you :)

By the way for the Nic.. What is the preferred type? VG or PG? The juice that I am trying to mimic is 70/30 VG/PG but I may be willing to experiment a bit more.. Should I just go with the 50/50 so I can be flexible?

You can achieve your desired nic level with either, or with 50/50. Many mix with PG nic because it's easier, thinner than VG, and, though I don't know the particulars, I hear it stores better, as well. With you getting a full liter of nic, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some amber or cobalt glass bottles to split it up to be able to store better. I split mine up, leaving as little air as possible in the bottle, bubble wrapped in ziploc bags, or in a small box, then the freezer.

Re the NIC - you might want to make a smaller purchase first .. as NIC can vary in taste. Any NIC Brand has it's fans and 'not so much'. This way you aren't stuck with a full liter of something you don't really love.

Best advice I can give is.. It's great that your researching a bit .. and your probably anxious to get started .. but spend another few hours reading through some of the threads here ... specifically NIC / Flavors / Scales (decent scale is only about 15$ and really the simplest- ez-est way to go!)
Flavors? sheesh! if your not aware there are soooo many different variations.. and they are all different in taste.. ie strawberry from one vendor can be totally different than from another.. just a heads up! ;)

You are in the right place tho... many experienced great people here.. good luck .. welcome to VU !!

edit: I prefer 100% pg nic - ease of mixing and storage - most of my mixes are in the 70/80 vg range
also check out Bull City Flavors and EcigExpress for flavors

Thank you for the replies!

I do understand about the NIC.. so in that regard, does anyone have any recommendations in terms of brands that they think I should start with?
I just saw that there were good deals on that particular NIC posted., along with the PG/VG gallons..

Should I atleast order the PG/VG in the mean time?

If you're going to max VG your juice. I wouldn't buy more than a gallon of PG. A single gallon will last forever if you plan on mixing at 80vg/20pg or higher.

Even if you mix at 50/50, the PG will last longer than the VG. As most flavors are PG based. Even your NIC may be PG, unless you specify otherwise.

Here's a prime example of my actual PG usage. Ignore the flavor name ;)

You're kinda getting ripped off on that PG/VG... I've been getting mine from here http://stores.ebay.com/gmi-retail for awhile and they're much cheaper when you calculate shipping.

I bought 4 gallons from Essential Depot, for $66. Including the shipping.
That same order would have cost me over $100 at the link you provided.

It's probably only because of that sale though.
Nope. Its just like I told you, there are multiple places that have this for significantly cheaper.

PS. Just saying that the way your post was setup sounds like you are promoting them.

heres my advice
MIX BY WEIGHT its faster cleaner easier in the long run

myfreedomsmokes nic has its fans and it haters
other places to look for nic are
chemnic.com
vaporstek i think its like 125 a liter there
i personally use both. chemnic is just as good and cheaper imho

a great place to buy flavors in bulk when you finally figure out which flavors you like the most is nicotineriver.com
buy 2oz or 4oz bottles at a great price and they ship in these awesome bottles with twist tops that are easy to use to mix with
when buying small amounts like 5-30ml of a flavor most places have about the same price. the challenge is shipping because you normally can never find every flavor you want IN STOCK at one place

for recipes
look for recipes by headinclouds or HIC on this forum
he has a website where he sells the recipes for like $4ish most people love his reipes and feel they are some of teh best you can get

find the flavourart thread lots of info there

Thank you so much Matt, this was a wealth of information. Pointed me to exactly what I was looking for!
Been reading a lot of HIC's recipes and seems people love it.. I am putting together an order now on nicotineriver.. put together a few recipes I found and added the flavors to cart but I am still on a hunt for a good fruity+minty recipe.. Thank you again!

Make sure you shake the heck out of the VG based nic every time you use it. The nicotine itself will separate from the VG creating hot pockets of almost pure nicotine.

Thank you everyone for your replies and insight!

I just received my shipment of flavors from nicotine river, everything smells great so far.
Also placed my order for the NIC @Vaperstek

Question.. In terms of all the liquids I received, what is the best practice for storage?
I've read at some places that I should freeze things or put them in smaller packages?

If anyone can give me a quick run down, I would really appreciate it!

Other great places for the DIYer are http://www.bullcityvapor.com/ (which they're now calling "bull city flavors, but the URL is the same), ecigexpress.com, and https://wizardlabs.us/ and of course, you can get large sizes at great prices if you go directly to TFA's website, and sign up for a free "wholesale" acct.

As for cloning an ejuice flavor that you like a lot -- good luck, though I have found this to be extremely difficult -- there's no real way to know exactly what flavors/additives are in any given commercial ejuice, or in what proportion/strength; take a stab if you like, but don't be discouraged if you can't quite hit it -- you may still make something tasty, even if not exactly a clone of something else. I've found best success with mixing flavors that I never tried as commercial ejuices.

You will want to store your nicotine in smaller bottles, leaving very little airspace, and store in the freezer. This help slow down oxidation. Make sure you shake your nic prior to dispensing to the smaller bottles and prior to mixing. Some store their flavors in the refrigerator, some don't. Since you got yours from Nicotine River, they will be larger sizes so I would refrigerate those. PG and VG just store in a cool dark place.

The biggest hint is to shake your nic and flavors prior to mixing, they tend to separate which will leave you scratching your head wondering why this awesome recipe tastes like crap... Since I started vaping, DIYing my juice is the best decision I have made. Vendor free for over a year.

I use 50/50 nic at 36mg because the way I make my juices .... this ratio allows me to use my base ingredients at about the same rate.
