New to the forum new to DIY

Greetings all! Been vaping two years and I have just recently gotten into DIY. I have been researching it for a while and noticed more and more information as time has gone by. I foolishly purchased 100mg/ml solution not that I haven't been successful with it. It is just dangerous, as I live alone it is really only a danger to myself. So I have some 24mg/ml on the way.
I have made a couple small batches using grape candy from TFA at 3mg of nicotine 70vg 30pg. My first small 10ml I used 5% flavoring. seemed a bit harsh so I went down to 3%, I feel that 3 mg is causing me a little bit more harshness and its making me feel light headed as if I am still getting an overdose. I normally vape 3mg juice, so would the 24mg/ml at 3mg in the mix be different from using 100mg? or should I dial back to like 2mg to take away the harshness and the head buzz?

Are you using a ejuice program?
I make grape candy with TFA at 10% flavor.
Using 100mg/ml for a 10ml batch you would use 0.3ml of nicotine.
Is your nicotine clear or have a color?

My nicotine is clear from what I can tell with 100% VG base. I used an app on my phone but I recently downloaded the ejuice me up program didn't see any calculation differences between the two. Having the program just makes it easier to track my mixtures I suppose. I did use .3ml of nic. and the 5% Grape Candy from TFA was too much for me. I am waiting on some sweetener to come in as well to maybe smooth out the tart flavor that might be adding a harsh effect. gonna go with 3mg to see if I can fix it but I may move down if I keep getting the OD feeling.

Make a small batch with no nicotine. If that makes the "harsh" go away you will know it's the nicotine.
How many ml of juice a day do you use?

Ok I will give that a shot thx. I would say I go through 15-20ml I would imagine Im honestly not counting.

ok mixed up a 70/30 no nic batch of the grape candy. it was pretty smooth. it was fresh though so I will give it a day to steep a little then take a few more hits off of it and see where I go. May definitely need to cut back that nicotine below 3mg.

Since you are using VG based nic, my best guess is that maybe you did not shake it enough. VG nic needs to be shaken like a screaming baby or else the nic will separate so that you are getting more than 3mg in your mix.

If you did not shake hell out of it, do so and then mix at 3mg again and try it.

If you did shake hell out of it, your nic could be too high or your measurements are off. But if you were vaping 3mg before and your juice feels like your getting too much nic, it's likely you didn't shake it enough.

Cool. Unless you want to go higher than 70%VG mixes, you might want to switch to PG based nic in the future. It's easier to work with all the way around.

I would also recommend the pg based liquid just because it is easier to shake (read that somewhere from another post which affected my first purchase). Still recommend shaking like a baby...but I feel better about having it mixed verses vg.

As for 24mg vs 100mg...it all about the danger level you want to be exposed to. I know I am super meticulous and anal when I greatly increase the danger. The benefit I have seen using 100mgPG liquid means I am adding very small amounts which means it is easier to stay at the 80 to 90 vg ratio for simple recipes. PG is also easier to measure via a medical grade syringe...and when I draw up the amount required by the recipe I measure by weight while adding to my mix (and I only have to measure once...but stare at the markings for a few extra seconds. It also means when I received my first order I split it down to multiple 30ml bottles...vacuum sealed the bottles in a bag, and then placed in a jar with packing material at the top of the bottle, and then placed in the freezer (and I only have to affect one small amount at a time.
