Ive been reading around and trying to get an idea of how to go about doing this, but one thing that ive yet to find an answer to is the nicotine. Ive seen people in here talk about a base, but what is that? From what i see, its a pre mixed pg\vg mix with nic added in to use as a base just add flavor. But im still new to vaping and dont know what vg/pg mixes i like yet. Ans i use a tank, and will pick up a rda friday if that helps. But i just dont understand how this works i guesse. Ive been useing a 6% juice (very recent former smoker) but i want to get into making my own juice instead of paying 18$ for a 30ml of yeti.
Any info on my confusion would be apreciated. Also sorry if i posted this in the wrong spot, im still learning the lay of the land.

Base could be PG/NIC or VG/NIC or PG/VG/NIC.
Basically it's whatever your NIC comes mixed with and can be purchased at varying NIC strengths.
And at varying PG/VG levels.
If you like using high VG, purchase VG/NIC Base.
Generally you still need to buy PG and VG separately to downmix NIC to your level and add flavorings.

The "base" is the pg/vg mixture (for example 30pg/70vg). Some people put their nic in it as well (30pg/70vg @ 6mg). What you need to do is use a calculator :
http://ejuice.breaktru.com/ <--download I use

Buy the pg, vg and nic separately and then input what you want in the calculator and it will tell you how much of each (including ingredients from recipes) you need to make your target juice.

The DIY section of the forum has many good recipes. You can also search here:
http://www.e-liquid-recipes.com
http://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/1ivjog/mega_tfa_tpa_recipe_thread/ (TFA/TPA) The flavor apprentice, also look in the right sidebar for other vendors links to recipes, like Flavor Art, Capellas, Flavor West, ect...

http://www.kritikalmass.net/products.asp?cat=Clone+Recipes

My most used vendors for flavors are :

http://wizardlabs.us/ (Capella, LorAnn, Seedman, Flavor Apprentice, )
http://www.ecigexpress.com/ (Flavour Art, Flavor West, LorAnn, Flavors Express, Natures Flavors,
Signature (TFA), Jungle Flavors, Hangsen, Tasty Puff, Inawera, Capella)
...but there are many more to be found as well.

Good luck.

I don't know what type of tank you are using, but if you're moving to a dripper/sub ohm from a higher ohm tank you may want to cut the nic level in any juice you make in half. You can always add more nic in diy, but it takes a lot to cut already made high nic juice in half.

It's possible the nic will be harsh in a dripper/sub ohm build @6. You'll also be ingesting more nic as it will burn more juice. You'll just have to try it to see.

Noted. I was thinking of trying a 3 for the dripper. I plan on having an rda and a tank. Use the tank for all day use without a refill, and the rda for well idk yet.

Oh and to answer your question, the tank i have is from an eleaf ijust2. Its been a great first vape, but im looking to get into mods. Picking up a coolfire 4 friday. My tank fits right on it no issues.

Fast, easy, no need for extras (at least not as many) http://vapingunderground.com/threads/guide-to-mixing-by-weight.22891/

Bottles (you have to order according caps):
http://packagingoptionsdirect.com/glass-bottles-jars

Syringes (you might need a few, e. g. for Nicotine base, sweetener, and flavors that don't have a Dripper cap):
http://www.dudadiesel.com/search.php?query=Syringes

For VG and PG, I'm utilizing those squeeze bottles for Cake decorating

Nicotine base:
http://www.vaperstek.org (premium)
http://nudenicotine.com

VG/PG:
(VG = Vegetable Glycerin, or short Glycerin, PG = Propylene Glycol)
http://www.essentialdepot.com
http://www.chemworld.com (Kennesaw, GA)

Flavors:
Best brand for flavors is FlavourArt (FA). Besides flavors you might need a sweetener. Usually Sucralose is used for that. I'm using the one made by The Flavor Apprentice (TFA).

http://www.ecigexpress.com - WA (ECX)

I'm using by weight, and mix directly into the bottle, give it a good shake at the end. That's it! 10-15 Minutes.

I agree with mixing by weight...the link is above. It turned out to be the way to go. Initially I was thinking about buying all these beakers and so on (it would be a "my first home chemistry set"). I read some threads on mixing by weight and watched a video. It clicked in my head and that's the way I went...and have not regretted that choice at all. I actually very happy about that choice.

Beyond that if you havnt already ordered flavors yet check out some recipies posted on VU and some other places. Plan acouple recipies then go shopping. We all can say...I wish I had the flavor to make a recipie. Then, if you can afford it buy as many supporting flavors you can...custards, vanilla, and so on. It gets expensive I must admit...but again...still havnt regretted my purchases....well, maybe that 4oz of pancake syrup lol.

Also, don't be surprised if a couple or all your mixes aren't perfect on the first try. Practice helps and hours of reading. I havnt been doing diy for long, but Vu has really helped and now how some mixes I am very happy with.

Im still digging around on flavors. Not sure what i want. Ill have to look into a scale vs syringe and bottle. Thanks again for the tips

Either way...volume or by weight is good. Just ease of use...some ways it seems more fun, more of a science experiment, but cleanup is more work sometimes to when doing by volumn. It may also be easier to do the volumn method if your mixing 60ml to 120ml+ like some of the experts here. But with 15ml test bottles and 30ml test recipies that require a week of steeping that's a lot of tools for mixing when you make 4-6 recipies at a shot. I never thought I would have a 15 bottles of juice sitting around (wouldn't be surprised the veteran mixes have way more), but I do and I'm going to make 4 more tomorrow.

Pick some recipes from the DIY-recipes sub forum, and buy the flavors for them (10 ml is good enough to begin with). Check out HIC's!
Make some small batches, e.g. 10 ml in a 15 ml bottle, which leaves you some room to add flavors if needed. Be aware, some might need steeping.

Steeping just means the juice mixing up so all the flavor is even like makeing sun tea. You can just shake and vape or put your mixed bottles in hot water. Some people get crazy with steeping and get and ultrasound jewelry cleaner. To me that's way over the top. Also idk if this was said earlier but when your buying your nic solution def go with 100mg nic. It's the best bang for your buck hands down.

Yup 100mg not 100% also someone already said that ecigexpress.com is a good vendor and I 2nd that. Also there nic isn't bad (not as good as vapetech or nudenic). But if your just starting worth trying cause its half the price of the others. Also nudenic gives out free samples (2$ for shipping) and it's 15ml of 100mg. That's enuff to mix 300ml of 5mg juice so worth it in my book. Also my fav juice calculator is http://e-liquid-recipes.com it is a super easy calculator but also a built in recipe book that saves your juice recipe. You can share your recipe if you want and check out everyone else's also.

Awesome. I think (supplies not withstanding) I'm ready to start mixing my own juice.

Also it's best to buy smaller sizes of flavorings in the beginning, like 5-10ml.
Wait until you find the ones you like best before ordering 30ml + sizes.

I see 100mg nic. You may want a syringe to measure that. I like to messure by both weight and volumn on my 100mg nic as a double check. You can screw up on everything but the nic can make you very sick. Also some gloves for handling, and eye protection if you don't wear glasses already.

Chocolate is good. I've seen a lot of recipies that compliment FA chocalate with FA Cocoa. HIcs recipies posted on here for cocoa cookie is great in my opinion. A true shake and vape.

FA custard is good. If you can afford to try cap custard v2 as well (it comes with the icky chemicals) is pretty good.

Graham cracker I think from tpa is a great addition to banna recipies and other possible fruit recipies if you can afford to add to your cart.

Everything from there is based on your budget. A FA caramel and FA vanilla can be a good addition. Maybe with a tobacco like ry4. Those three as a combo I like...and it's fun to see the ry4 change in strength during the steeping process.

The list can go on and on from there. It's based on buget and what juices you like. Stil recommend buying based on some recipies you can find. Maybe pick three. Or if you can't go head over heels like I did pick acouple fruits...FA strawberry, FA rassberry and so on (some state the a dash or FA rassberry can make strawberry flavoring pop...for which I can agree). Picking acouple other flavors will give you a few options.

Also, shipping is normally free if you go over 50 dollars or something like that for Ecig and there is a 10 percent coupon post in many places on this website (just don't know it off the top of my head). If you atlesst get to the minimum price points you get the better bang for your buck.
