New to using mods and batteries

I currently have a Joyetech eVic-VTC Mini. My question is about charging the batteries. The batteries say 2500MAH 3.7V. The two settings I have on my charger are 3.0 & 4.2

Which setting do I use? The instructions were not helpful. It's a TrustFire and I haven't read many good reviews.

I had it set on 3.0 and the charging light turned green quickly but after trying the battery the mod showed it was less than 1/2 way charged. I just put them back in and set it on 4.2. I hope that's okay?

Thanks for any help. I'm new to the mods.

Hi @pearljampajamas and a big warm welcome to the Vaping Underground! Very happy to see you hear. Yes, 4.2 volts is the correct voltage for a fully charged battery. They should be recharged when they drop down to about 3.4 volts, for maximum battery life. Discharging them below 3.4 volts is quite detrimental to the longevity of the battery, it's a negative hyperbolic curve with 3.4 being the "sweet spot".

The Joyetech evic VTC mini is a GREAT lil machine. It will tell you that your batteries need to be charged, when they reach 3.4 to 3.5 volts.

I'm not sure how to tell when it gets that low. There's really just a display of a battery and how far it's down. So maybe once it gets a little past the halfway point?

The least it will do, it'll stop fireing. If I remember correctly, the battery symbol also blinks. I haven't used my VTC Mini for a while. :)

The chip should stop it from getting too low
