Newby.

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone has any tips. Have just started vaping about three weeks ago and cut down straight away from about 30 smokes a day to 8-10 a day. Having so much trouble cutting out the last few. I was thinking maybe Nicorette gum or something but am concerned about too much nicotine between the vaping and the gum. Or maybe I just need to man up lol.

Welcome to VU!
I was a dual user for about a month before I got my nicotine level up enough to be able to give up the smokes. You could try that, just a little higher mg nic, and see if it helps. And in all honesty, a lot of this is about mindset. It's hard to just give up something you've done for so long,it's part of your body chemistry at this point. At the end of my first month, I noticed I had about half a pack of smokes that I'd bought over a week before, and I thought to myself "Why am I even buying them?" I told myself then that I was done, not buying any more cigarettes, and vaping was just the way it was gonna be from there on out. Mind over matter, a little nicotine adjustment, and I haven't had smoke in my lungs in over three years.
You got this....;)

When I started vaping, I still had a pack of cigarettes with maybe three, or four left. However, I never touched the pack again, with one exception though. I threw it away.
I agree with @Teresa P to increase the nicotine of your eJuice.

Agree. Use higher MG nicotine. Pick up your vape when you want a ciggy. Get it into your mind that you are now a vaper, not a smoker. Sometimes, you are really just smoking out of habit, not for nicotine.. like after meals.. with coffee, etc. At times like those, just sit and take a 5 minute vape break. The nicotine addiction is being managed by the vape.. so really, no excuse to even buy cigarettes. Remember.. if you don't have them, you won't smoke them.
Welcome to VU and keep at it.

Welcome to VU! Great place, great folks, and great info here. I agree with the others, bump your nic percentage up a bit. Don't go crazy, if you're vaping vaping a 3mg nic juice, bump it to 6. And it is a mind set thing. Make sure you take your rig with you where ever you go, and if you have the urge to smoke, pull out the vape. It's something you have to do intentionally for a while. Once you find your sweet spot for nic though it'll be easier. It may take a while thoiugh. It took me the better part of a month to totally walk away from analogs, but it was well worth the effort.:bliss:

Vape as needed. However, be aware, that vaping differs from smoking. If you get a headache, feel dizzy, and or nauseous, you did consume too much nicotine. (Been there, done that)

I have 3 words for you....

whole tobacco alkaloids

I had the same issue. For 6 months, I just couldn’t shake off those 6 cigs a day. When I finally tried a liquid with WTAs, I was able to give up the sticks. It may have been psychosomatic, but it worked.

I would try the WTA thing before I started upping nic levels. After starting with 18 mg nic level, sometimes I felt that it was just making me want a cig even more. When I got down to 6 mg and started using liquid with WTAs, I was able to completely quit. Today is Day 127 for me and I smoked for 35 years. The VU community is a great source of knowledge and support. I know you can get to where you want to be.

As others have stated, a big part of it is just not to have any cigs available.

I also agree with the "Flavah 'Ho":p about upping your nic levels while you make the transition to non-smoker. Also, keep in mind that nicotine from vaping is mostly delivered via the soft tissues in your mouth rather than via your lungs from smoking.

And here I will give you the same advice given me by the guy that sold me my first kit and it works, and it is painless.

When you get up in the morning and you really want a stinky, go ahead. Have two if you need to and then go back to vaping.

Every time you just gotta have one, have one while keeping in mind that you want to quit and then go back to vaping.

Before bed, if you just gotta have one, have one.

I know this sounds silly but it works!

Using this method, after about 10 days, it got to the point where I just did not want to light up a stinky as I had gotten to the point where I actually enjoyed vaping more!

And after you have made the transition, you can start to gradually lower your nic level.

I did start vaping only, once I received my gear. IMO, it's a matter of having the right device, with the proper nicotine level in the eJuice. However, I do have to admit, after having switched to vaping, one evening, I had the urge of smoking a cigarette. Luckily, I had some tobacco flavored eJuice (RY4), which helped me to overcome the urge.

You didn't mention what gear you are using or your current nic levels.

When I started vaping ejuice.... I did it side by side with cigarettes.... after 6 months no more cigs.... didn't really even try to quit... just stopped smoking. I smoked 1-2 packs a day for 40 years..... last cigarette was sometime during Dec of 2015.

Grats on making the change, I know quitting smoking can suck, but you're gonna be way better off for it. I ain't really got no advice other than it'll take some time to find your setup and vape style, totally worth it when you find the sweet spot though. Just keep at it, eventually you won't even want a cig :)

Welcome to VU, real glad to have ya here

I had a massive collection of vision spinners when I started, and always wanted a vamo but never got one. And I ordered ce4 tanks from eBay in large quantity too, but the little vivi novas turned out to be my favorite, at least till I discovered box mods and sub ohm tanks. :) ...And as far as nic level - I was a tough cookie, it took 30mg juice to get me away from the smokes. But I'm at 1.5mg today, so it's turned out pretty well. I'm happy with myself. ;)

Oh heavens no...lol! They are all vaping scientists and everyone is doing it wrong except them. HA! I'm in a couple DIY groups on there and I laugh at the majority of them. Most of them are pompous arses, and some of the advice they dish out to newbies is ridiculous. You are definitely much better off here than there for anything you need to know!

Yeah I agree, I've been blocked by several vape groups for calling them out on their shit, I'd definitely do it again
