What's up guys, I'll start off by saying please excuse my newb.

I was recently given a tugboat tuglyfe box mod clone with tugboat RDA (assuming also a clone) and mad hatter mini RDA

I have been researching my butt off for the last few days about coil building etc and I'm pretty convinced an RDA is not a great idea for me to start off with as a beginner. I have a local shop that will build it for me but I think it would get obnoxious having to go in every time I need a build. Eventually I would like to get to a point where I can do it myself but I'm currently looking for alternatives.

From what I understand I can get something like the Kanger mini subtank and buy a 5 pack pre built coil of sort?

I've read that tanks are not ideal for a mech mod set up?

I've read that mech mods even with said "mosfet" are a bad choice for my first vape?

both RDA's came with *pre-wrapped* wires in a kit but I have no idea if they're of good quality wire or if it even matters. I also purchased a charger and Efest Purple IMR 18650 35A 2500mAh 3.7v batteries. But everything is still in boxes as I'm not sure that this is the right set up for me. Although nice to have been gifted these things I still want to be safe and aware of the fact that I am not seasoned on any of these things.

What I'm reading about mech mods makes me nervous about even bothering with this one until I'm a little more seasoned on vaping. I am looking at other mods from sigelei, snow wolf etc I would love to find the sigelei 150w (non TC) or 100 plus but they seem to be slim picking.

I'm pretty set on a "box" type design as I really enjoy that feel.

Thank you for any and all advice.

A Uwell Crown with the 0.25 ohm coils would be perfect for that device.

The whole "no subtank on a mech" thing is because the tube style mechs can have hybrid top cap adapters and subtanks create a dead short on them.

A mosfet protected box mod is about the safest of the mechanical mods to put a subtank on.

The reason I recommend the Uwell Crown is on a mech you can not adjust your voltage/wattage

so a kanger is only 0.5ohms and at 4.2 volts (battery at full charge) it would only draw 8.4 amps and put out 35.28 watts.

A Crown's 0.25 ohm coil will get you 16.8 amps and put out 70.56 watts

You get more options with the Crown because it has 0.5 and 0.25 ohm coils you can buy.

You can also buy an RDA section if you want to get into rebuilding you can.

The tank comes with one of each so you can see which of the two suits your vaping needs

Another option if you have a few spare $$$$ is to get something like a Sigelei 30 watt mini and a Kanger Subtank with a supply of 0.50 ohm coils.

The mini can be found for $36, subtank mini for about $30 and five packs of heads for under $15. And it comes with an RBA base for when you are ready to start building!
