No love for Herakles Plus?

I just received mine the day before Christmas. Came here to see what the crowds were saying. So far it's the best tank I've used. Second best would be the tfv4. Haven't tried the crown yet although the forum has me curious.

I have been really impressed with the Herakles Plus using the SS coil in TC, flavor wise it is definitely one of the best tanks I own. I wasn't as impressed using the pre-installed kanthal coil, took a few tanks to break in and even then I thought it was good, just not great.

There are some out there that have gotten faulty Herk Plus tanks and are having a very different experience then we are having. In regular power mode neither the kanthal of SS coils are game changers for me but the SS in TC is. This is the first tank that I actually prefer TC over power mode, the flavor is actually better.

I have the Crown and TFV4 as well. The Crown has more airflow than the TFV4 if that is what your looking for, it is not night and day though. The TFV4 has a little better flavor for me when using the Clapton coil, my preferred coil for flavor, not for cloud production though.

I just got the Stentorian Steam Engine from VaporDNA the day before Christmas as well. So far it has been a great tank and one of the best looking tanks I own. The Steam Engine might just be my favorite new tank, time will tell. It holds 6ml while being the same size height wise as my other tanks, has just as much airflow wide open, great build quality, doesn't get hot with it's cool drip tip design and flavor and vapor production is great with the clapton coil installed. I haven't tried the other coils yet but it comes with 3 in the kit, just haven't felt the need to replace the clapton coil.

I would definitely say the Herk Plus and Steam Engine tanks are 2 of the most impressive tanks I have gotten recently.

I might have to try one of those if I can pick one up at a shop. The steam engine that is.

As far as TC for SS. I have a Sig TC 150. No support for those in TC, correct?

I have one and its taken me a while to warm up to it. After having it a couple of weeks It really started growing on me and I've ordered a second in black. I think it's kind of a pain in the ass with the positioning of the valves, controls and such, but the coils and performance makes it tolerable. The kanthal coil is great at 70 watts and its capable of higher wattages. I've tried the stainless coil in temp mode but not for very long so I'm looking forward to giving those more use.

Edit to add - It's a great tank with really unique air flow that I love but don't believe the YouTube hype; it's no crown killer.

Yeah, I have a Sig 150 TC too but it only does TC for Ni coils. There probably is a conversion chart somewhere when using a Ni TC mod for 316L SS coils but I haven't run across one. I am using the Reuleaux RX200 for SS TC and it works great, it is a steal for under $50 you can get it for online.

You can get the Steam Engine at http://www.vapordna.com/Stentorian-Steam-Engine-Sub-Ohm-Tank-by-Wotofo-p/wsteam.htm and there are 10% off coupons that bring the price to about $26. I bought 2, 1 was for a Christmas present and my buddy used his today and so far he is really impressed as well.

I am with you skt239, at first I wasn't too impressed with the Herk Plus especially considering the youtube hype. Not until I tried it with TC did I finally say wow.

I was interested in Steam Engine too, until I saw online that it had a juice control. Problem is, I dont vape like I used to smoke. The smoker goes outside for 5 min, takes 15 drags or so, then is done for an hour. But vaping is more random for me and I drive and multi task. So turning a juice control on and off and worrying about keeping it upright would be a hassle.

My concern is a trend towards this...... Also coils that take forever to break in.

Nancy, the original Herakles is a nice tank. If not the latest and greatest, it is perfect as a daily driver. I am getting a used TFV4 from a friend. That should be a nice addition.

No need to turn juice control on or off, that is only turned off when you fill the tank then left to whatever opening works for you until you run out of juice. I leave the juice control open completely on the Steam Engine, Herk Plus and OBS which are the 3 tanks I have that feature that and none of them leak.

Juice control is mainly to be able to limit the amount of juice your cotton sees if you are using maybe a high PG mix which is thinner and causes flooding on the coils. I think mostly the tanks I have that use it though is to prevent leaking when filling the tank, some tanks when you screw the top back on after filling the pressure created pushes the juice out the coils thus causing a leak.

I get the misunderstanding so I wanted to clear that up for you, juice control only needs to be messed with when filling the tanks and if the viscosity of the juice your using is too thin causing a little flooding. If not then juice control can be set to fully open without worrying about leaking whether it is on it's side, upside down or doing cartwheels.

I have only had the Steam Engine for about 4 days but haven't leaked a drop. It has been on it's side, in my pocket and rattling around in the cup holder in my car with the juice control open all the time, no juice leaked.

I'm glad to see some other folks enjoying this tank. I really think it's well done so I was surprised to see so many people having issues. I think the performance is on point with vapor and flavor.

I see a lot of people complaining about leaking but I have a theory people are playing with the juice control too much. It should turned off when filling and that's really it. I think when you first close it, it squeezes a little juice into the coil. When you arbitrarily turn it on/off/on/off I think it can "push" excess juice into the coil. This may explain some of the leaking people are seeing.

I love this tank, just my 2 cents :)

Messing around with the juice flow control after filling will cause leaks for sure. However, even following the filing instructions to the letter (as I always do with the plus) still gets me a tiny bit of leaking. That's usually immediately after filling and its just some weeping out of the bottom AFC. After hitting it a couple times it's gone.

Sounds like it might be a quality control issue with some Herk Plus tanks, if the seal is not tight when the juice control is closed then it will leak, it should not leak at all if the juice flow control is sealed shut. That is actually the only time mine leaked when I filled it and forgot to close the juice control. Aside from that one time though it hasn't leaked on me. Looking at my other 2 tanks with juice flow control they only have 4 larger holes that match up size wise with the holes in the coils. The Herk Plus has 6 oval holes which don't necessarily match up with the 4 coil holes, that would mean it has to have space for the juice to flow around inside. If there is any place that does not seal completely in the juice flow control then juice would be forced out and cause leaking when the top is screwed back on.

I filled up the Steam Engine and Herk Plus with the same juice last night and alternated. The Herk with the SS coil in TC mode and the Steam Engine with the kanthal clapton coil in power mode. Flavor wise I can't say I noticed much of a difference, they both were great. With the airflow wide open the Steam Engine is airier, it is actually a little more airier than the Crown which was tops. I close the airflow on the Steam Engine to about 30% open and it works great for how I like to vape.

Thanks for the clarification. How much of a difference is there between the original Herakles and the Herakles Plus and Steam Engine for flavor and clouds? I found the Crown tasty but not an overall upgrade over original Herakles. What about all of these vs TFV4 or even the Aromamizer?
