I got an email a couple of days ago stating that Google Wallet would be doing away with their Wallet cards. My sole purpose in even having one was for safer vape purchases, seeing as I've had my debit card number stolen online within the past few months. This really irks me. I know you can get prepaid cards and PayPal debit cards, but there was no fee with Wallet.
Anyone else get this notice from them?

Yes - and I only got mine a month ago so it's very annoying!

I found it did keep my spending in check, so I guess I'll have to find an alternative. One thing that annoyed me, though, was both times I transferred money onto the card from my checking account it took a week :-( Also, you can't use it for international transactions, which of course means FT!

Yes, they do take their sweet time when transferring from checking! I just transferred from my bank card and paid the whatever odd cents to get it pretty much instantly. It takes about the same length of time to transfer PayPal funds to your bank.
Just when I thought I'd found a sure fire way to purchase safely from merchants that didn't honor PayPal, they pull this.....

Was recently thinking about one of those for US vape purchases. No matter now.

Paypal does not allow vape transactions in the US, but I use it overseas with no problem. Brings a question. Does anyone know if Paypal debit/credit cards can be used for US transactions?

I'm not familiar with that one. What do you mean by "turn off" the card?

Not sure, but I'm about to find out as I just ordered another one. I've had cards from PP in the past but never used them for vaping items. When I got the email from Google, I got on PP and ordered another.

maybe so but you can buy any vape related item off of Ebay with Paypal and they do not catch it... just a addition

you log into your online banking account and click a button that pulls up the card security feature and click off.

But wouldn't you want the security feature?

I use my paypal business debit card for all my ecig purchases online without issue. There's no fees on it, and in fact I get 1% cash back every time I use the card. You can't get it on a regular paypal account, but all you have to do is upgrade your account to a premier account, which is free last I checked, and then apply for the debit card.

I ended up ditching my Google Wallet card after it took them 6 days to transfer money from my account to the card. You can be damn sure as soon as I clicked the button the funds vanished from my account. Never was like that in the past, then the fuckers got greedy and wanted the float interest, and then greedier with more days of float interest. Fuck 'em.

That's been my gripe (the transfer time).

the amount you transferred ended up in a big google clearing account earning interest (float interest). The more days they delayed, the more interest they make.

Yes it does.
I have a PayPal business debit card. Use it for all my online purchases, both US & overseas. And it gets me 1% back monthly too.
