One of the major draws for AMD equipped PCs is the cost difference between FreeSync monitors and their Nvidia G-Sync-equipped counterparts. During is CES 2019 presentation, Nvidia announced it's bringing G-Sync compatibility to some FreeSync-equipped monitors beginning January 15.
According to Nvidia, it's testing hundreds of variable refresh rate monitors for compatibility with its new driver. "Those that pass our validation tests will be G-Sync Compatible," Nvidia said, and can be used "by default in the GeForce driver."
Of the over 400 monitors tested by Nvidia, 12 "have been validated as G-Sync Compatible," including the Acer XG270HU, a 144hz FreeSync display we named one of the best 27-inch gaming monitors.
