Purchased a Sig X Tank from FT to put on a Sig MiniBook mod, so I'd have the kit as it was designed by Sigelei. I am a huge fan of older Sig hardware, so wanted this particular combination.

When tank came, I primed the coil and put it in the tank (this, btw is a Sigelei coil), filled the tank with some 30/70 pg/vg juice from Oasis Vapes. What followed was not pretty - spitting, hot vapor, leaking from the airflow slot in the tank base. I was running the mod at about 20-25 watts. Tried different wattages.

So, put a Steam Tribe 0.5 ohm Atlantis clone coil in it. Ok, I know your antennae just shot up, but I've been using Steam Tribe Kabuki coils for months now without a single problem. Same juice, tried different wattages, but still spitting and hot.

Finally just emptied out the tank and put it away for a few days.

Brought it back out again a little while ago, thinking that I would vape that coil mostly dry and try some different juice in it, just to see what happens. So yes, remaining juice in the coil spitting, hot, burned the hell out of my throat at one point, but I kept after it until I could taste just the slightest bit of dryness beginning to happen.

Now, put a couple ml of my own juice at 40/60 pg/vg juice in it. After three hits the thing started to smooth out.

I'm thinking, I cannot believe this. More vapor, cooler vapor, decent taste, all the problems suddenly resolved, just because I changed the juice? Moreover, I changed it to something that, theoretically, should give me MORE problems with leaking and throat hit because it's higher in pg than the juice I was using before.

I don't understand this. I totally believe it, but I damn sure don't understand it.

Thoughts?

ETA: Think I just answered part of my own question, but not all of it. Oasis Vapes juice was 12mg nic. The juice I mixed is 6mg. So that partially answers the throat hit question. Does it answer the HEAT question? I'll give it a while and see if I have any leaking; may not know immediately if that's going to be a problem or not.
