Offer I could not refuse-DNA200 ordered.

Hi people. As you may know this fortnight was my tank and supply buying week, and the next fortnight was my mod buying week.

But last night, a UK vaper sent me an offer I could not refuse.

A DNA200 Mod with everything, and a wall charger, for £80. There was only 36 units left, so I knew this offer was unlikely to come up again, so I got the juices I needed, I have well enough kanthal and NI200 and TI to last me a fortnight, and went for it.

Its called a HotCig DNA200, I checked reviews and it seemed a good device before I bought it.

I will likely buy an extra, larger battery pack for at home, but the included battery is fine to get started as I understand LI-PO's are different beasts as I used to fly RC helicopters, using a balanced charger with a 5Cell pack (If memory is correct) and a 3 cell for my smaller Trex 250, the HotCig comes with a 3 Cell.

So, Gearbest is now processing the order, they are usually quite fast so I am hoping around 2 weeks and it will be here.

I wanted to get a DNA 200 before May, and now I have one on the way. It was something I thought I would have to save for, as the cheapest in the UK was around £170. I got it for £80, so thought I have enough tanks and drippers to use, could also afford the juice and concentrates I needed, so went for it.

Now I just can not wait for it to arrive and get it going. I will probably use it at more sedate levels and enjoy its performance, but I will try a Quad coil build on my velocity to really test it out.

Most of the time it will be used at 80 watts max though.

I'm just over the moon that I have a DNA200 device on the way. That, and the YIHI350J, are my dream devices, and I will soon have one. It is currently at the processing stage, I spoke to them and it will ship on Monday.

I inusured it due to the price, that was only a few pounds anyway.

If DNA devices perform as good as people say, I am extremely looking forward to this :).

Wow! That sounds like a real deal, I hope it works out well for you!
Thanks man, another vaper on the UK forums ordered one and told me, I thought due to the price it makes more sense to get that while I can, a realistically I don't have £150-200+ to spend on one, this way I have got the full kit, for the price the chip retails for in the UK!

I am just waiting now. They mistranslated a message I sent and thought I wanted a refund, they said I need to contact in 3 days for that to happen, I have sent 2 messages saying DO NOT REFUND and send as normal, there must of been an error in translation.

I was talking about the discount code, they thought I meant a refund for the whole unit, luckily its at the final stage of processing and will be shipped soon.

I don't know if they post on a Saturday or sunday in China, but I am guessing they will send it on Monday. Can't wait to have it :).

For fucks sake, gearbest straight up LIED to me. Two days ago they sent me a message saying they "are delighted to tell me the item is in stock snd is being packaged ready for shipment in 24 to 48 hours", today they send me a message saying there is no stock and it will be sent out within a week.

So that flys that out of the window for getting this month. They said If I am unhappy I could have a gearbest refund or paypal refund.

I checked fastech, their time is minimum 12 days till dispatch, so i am hoping they are not lying and it will be under 7 days they get it in stock on gearbest. If not I will get a full paypal refund, and order from fast-tech, as I have not had any issues with fast tech before.

Pissed off is a bit of an understatement, but its the only way I can get a DNA200 under £100, and this seems the quickest way.

I checked the battery pack it comes with (900MAH) and saw it undone. There is lots of room in there, I think I could get a 1300MAH in there, and the connection is so simple, just two bannana plugs and one balance lead underneath that anyone could replace it :).

So, I am looking forward to getting the mod, when they finally bloody ship it!

It is the lying that has got to me more than anything.

I am hoping the person is mistaken, and it gets shipped today or tommorow, as far as I am aware the person I got the info from ordered one the same time as me, it said on the site 37 left in stock when I ordered.

I'm praying its a mistake, and today or tommorow it is shipped.

Gearbest is notorious for slow shipping, listing it as in stock, then changing it after you order. I order from them, but I know what to expect. It's gotten to the point that I'd rather pay a few extra bucks to order somewhere else. That being said, I also ordered the Hotcig from them ($112.99 shipped), it's on the way (but still in China and it supposedly shipped the beginning of last week). I don't order from them because they are fast. I only order from them now if the price is just too good to pass up. Then just sit back and wait. If you're in a hurry, order from somewhere else is my advice.

Cheers,
Steve

Sounds like a deal I almost ordered one when they were on sale i did order a Effusion DNA 200 pre-order I like the carbon fiber..

Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. I ordered some Samsung 25R's from them on Sept 24, said ships in 3 days. Then after ordering it changes to Oct 6. Surprise, surprise, they still haven't shipped.

I'm not exactly in a hurry, I checked fasttech and their dispatch was 12 days, Gearbest told me they will have stock within 7 days and ship it ASAP.

I have messaged them stating OK, if it is genuinely 7 days then carry on with the order as normal, if in 7 days it is not in stock I will cancel my order and get a paypal refund, or words to those effect, but kindly, as after all they have a fair amount of my money!

I don't mind waiting up for a month for the item to be received as it was a real good deal, but no longer than that, otherwise it is like I am just missing a fairly large sum of money really, until it does turn up.

Do you think they are being honest about the restocking time, or is that something they often lie about as well?

Ahh OK, thats crap. They specifically told me in a ticket it was in stock and being packaged after I payed on Saturday and shipping in 24 to 48 hours, but then I received a different ticket this morning saying that it will be in stock in 7 days.

It wasn't an automated message, it was typed out by staff, and my order is at the final stage, processing, just before shipping.

Is there any odds it was a mistake, and mine is being shipped after all?

If not, seeing as it was a hand typed and not automated message, do you think the 7 days thing can be trusted?

Lie is a strong word. Maybe more like giving you the most optimistic date. The thing about them is they are hit and miss. One order will go out timely, then the next constant delays. You just never know. I try to just forget I ordered from them (with varying degrees of success lol), and be happily surprised when it shows up. That's why I'd really prefer to order from somewhere else. It's just like you said, at times they have something I want at a price just too good to pass up.

Cheers,
Steve

I have another one for you on the opposite end of the spectrum. I also ordered a HCIGAR DNA200 from them 2 Friday's ago (about 10 days). I noticed the ship date is for after October 30. So the next night (Saturday) I see it for basically the same price in the USA, in stock. So I get the great idea of ordering it from them and canceling my gearbest order since it's oos until at least October 30. So that's what I did. Then I wake up on Sunday to a tracking number from Gearbest. So I got the one I ordered from here on Wednesday. The gearbest one is either still in China or on the way. What I'm really trying to say is with Gearbest, you just never know and I quit trying to guess lol.

Cheers,
Steve

Ahh, well I have hopes then. I was thinking UK stores get restock pretty quickly-so the country of manufacture should be able to apply large places like gearbest with equipment even quicker, so I think the 7 days may well be true.

Fingers crossed anyway. Hopefully I wake up tommorow and find a shipped Icon like you :).

Yeah but the CEO's and shareholders all made money so screw the rest of us. Don't even get me started. It's depressing to even think about it.

How many dollars is £80?

According to my currency calculator, it's $122.73 at the current exchange rate (£1.00=$1.53).

Cheers,
Steve
I believe it was around 127 dollars (I think, my memory is not the best as you know, I know the device was £80 though) as I included fast shipping and insurance as well, they were only about £2 each so for a product that expensive (Or cheap considering its a DNA200) I wanted insurance on it just in case.

OK, mega confused is my state right now.

I received two messages during the night, one telling me it is in stock and will be sent in 24 hours, another from a different member of staff with a different ticket number telling me it isn't.

It is only one member of staff who is telling me it is not in stock, and he/she never signs off with their name, the ones that tell me it IS in stock always leave their name.

So, should I be expecting it, seeing as its 2 to 1 saying it is in stock and ready to ship?

They gave me a discount code for future purchases. I doubt I will make a future purchase from there as they don't know their head from their elbow lol.

I just want to get the mod, get it atttached to escribe to drop the TC from 200W for 0.5 to heat the coil instantly down to at least half of that, probably 60-80 W, change a few settings, then be done. I know its useable straight out of the box, but I want to program it using Escribe :)

I'm going to assume your in for a rough ride with gearbest. I had the same thing with some other items I ordered and they strung me along with the wait a few more days, then turned into weeks and when I asked for a refund my item went in pre-shipment and I couldn't get a refund no more. It was in pre-shipment for weeks before they finally sent it. It was almost 2 months before they shipped my item then it was 42 days in shipment before landing in Canada customs.
I'm also assuming your discount code was 5% off your next order...big deal. That was the first and last time I will deal with gearbest.
You'll have to see how it goes after the 7 days they said since and maybe add you to the ever growing list of dissatisfied gearbest customers.

Ahh this is bollocks :(. I have been told my two different staff members it IS in stock, and will be shipped in 24 to 48 hours, and they are signing off their messages with a name, while the person telling me it is not is not leaving there name.

I am thinking that the person leaving their name would be more official?

I had no problems with my torches from gearbest, great service with them. But I think this will be the last mod I buy from there. If I had to wait 42 days I would be mega pissed off.

It is currently in the last stage before shipment-processing. So, does that mean it is likely to be shipped, as I was told by two staff, one during the night last night it was in stock, the other saying it was not.

But, fuck gearbest as this is doing my nut in.

Never had this many issues with fasttech. I'm hoping it ships tomorrow or the next day like I have been told by two different staff.

Well apparently both the DNA200 mods I ordered from them are at my local Post Office. I ordered one on September 30 and the other October 2. That's pretty good since I didn't upgrade the shipping. It was shipped through SF Express, first time they used that for my orders. When it got to the US, either they kept it or a shipped partner. Today it was transferred to my local USPS. I'm actually pleasantly surprised they are here already. Maybe yours won't take forever either.

That is very hopeful for me. end of september to now is not bad at all, 2nd october to now even better.

I hope it gets here as fast as yours, even if I have to wait 7 days. I think it is most likely in stock, seeing as two different members of staff told me it is, and signed off with their name, whereas the person telling me it is not in stock is not leaving any name.

I remember my torches from gearbest got here in around 2 weeks from order-hopefully same case here. I payed for faster shipping and also insurance on the package, so hope it gets here speedily :).

I have been informed that it is in stock now, even by the guy that said it was out of stock! So yesterday they was packaging ready to ship, and said 24-48 hours until shipment.

That was this time yesterday, I recieved a ticket reply from the member of staff telling me it was out of stock, that it is now in stock, and to wait 24-48 hours until contact, he sent that message last night sometime while I was sleeping.

But, seeing as it was already beeing processed, and someone else knew before him it was in stock, and told me it was shipping earlier than him, I am hoping it ships today, latest tomorrow.

Just so glad that it is in stock, as once its shipped it should not take too long as I payed for faster shipping, it usually takes around a week to 2 weeks from dispatch :)

Fantastic, and I am over the moon :)

Well both my DNA200 mods from Gearbest were waiting for me in the mailbox. The Hotcig's wooden box was broken along the seam where the top meets the back, completely severed (bummer). That's not all, apparently there was a bug in the early firmware that allowed the batteries to discharge while at rest. Mine came in not balanced and discharged passed what I consider acceptable:
Cell 1. 1.81V
Cell 2. 1.15V
Cell 3. 1.90V
I'm running it in the Escribe recovery charge now.

The Hcigar (separate package) arrived undamaged. I already have 1 from another store and it had the newer firmware and all cells were in the high 3.9xV when I received it. Yours should be ok in that regard Conan. I haven't plugged this one into Escribe yet. I just opened the package to make sure it was ok. I'm considering whether I want to keep 2 of the same model or sell it plus I'm still trying to get the Hotcig fully charged :(

Cheers,
Steve

Ahh I did not realise you also was getting one- everyone that has got them from fast-tech has had batteries under a safe level and had to do recovery charging-so much in fact that Im expecting to do that as part of the setup lol. Its over at the ecig forum, not registerered but there is a big thread there about this mod.I got mine from gearbest (well on the way from gearbest) so lets see if they are also sending them out severely undercharged. The worst cases were under 1 volt lol, they were all recovered in Escribe somehow.

Even if they didn't, I have a 3S lipo laying around that I checked its voltage-11.7V-I had not used it in AAAGES, so I do not know how it still had that charge in it, but I suspect they are leaving the factory like that.

Inside of the battery compartment is so simple, you just connect the positive and negative poles to the two banana pins and put the balance port through the bottom if you ever wanted to replace-I'm thinking of Once I have the device, measuring it, then ordering a LIPO that will fit it.

Escribe is in depth, isn't it? I coudln't believe how much so when I used it the other day lol

I really like Escribe Conan. Here's an update on the Hotcig. I used recovery charging last night. I used it for a bit after it was done. Hooked it back up to Escribe this morning and all cells were balanced at 4.02V. Seems like the recovery charging worked. The reason that the batteries are coming depleted as I understand it, is because they are shipping with and earlier firmware version that allowed the batteries to be discharged while the device was sitting idle. At least that's what I've read. Heck if Hotcig would have just shipped the battery side and chip side not connected it wouldn't have been a problem. Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20 :D

Cheers,
Steve
