Old Man Logan #2 Review

The original Old Man Logan storyline was memorable as much for the kooky future world Mark Millar and Steve McNiven created as for its depiction of an aging, world-weary Wolverine. The question is whether that version of Logan can maintain his appeal when he's taken out of his own world and thrust into another. With Old Man Logan apparently becoming a part of the new Marvel Universe after Secret Wars, that's a question in definite need of answering. Unfortunately, if Old Man Logan #2 is any indication, you might not like the answer.

Issue #2 is sparse and empty to a fault. Logan ventures outside of his own Battleworld domain, runs afoul of a Thor, and encounters the X-Men of the Age of Apocalypse domain. That's about the sum total of what transpires in this chapter. There's very little insight into Old Man Logan's thoughts or how he reacts to seeing the friends he was manipulated into murdering so many decades before. Mostly, the various characters seem flabbergasted at the thought that alternate versions of themselves exist on the same world, which doesn't really mesh with what we've been shown about Battleworld in the past. There's little sense of significance to Logan's journey here. Nothing in this issue really takes advantage of this particular version of Wolverine.
