It's that time. Last night's Once visited the past of Cruella De Vil, and despite the title of the episode, she's a delightfully unsympathetic character. That sentence makes it sound like I root for villains. I'm pro-hero, I swear, but not all villains need to tread into gray area or be triggered by a tragic event. Cruella's twisted and she owns it. She told Maleficent, "I'm a terrible person" early on in the episode and we saw multiple examples of it.
In many ways, Cruella is a darker villain than most anyone else who's appeared on the show. She's mentally unstable, she's killed multiple people, and for crying out loud, she slayed and skinned dogs. We've seen or heard about Regina performing similarly awful actions, but Cruella's a different sort of villain and variation keeps things interesting.
