If you’re into older video games and your walls are looking a little bare, you’ll want to check these out. The IGN Store has a bunch of Pixel Frames on sale that you can hang on your walls. They depict memorable scenes from classic games like Contra, Double Dragon, Mega Man 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, and more. They look great, and they come with their own frame, so they’re a cinch to hang. They cost $29.99 each, and they ship June 1 (that’s coming up).

Preorder Pixel Frames

Pixel Frames are shadow box artworks, so they have a bit of depth to them. They have layers, just like the different layers of sprites in the retro games. If you check out the Sonic one, you'll find an animated gif that shows what I'm talking about. Each Pixel Frame is 9” x 9”, so they’re not huge. But they look great, and you can always buy more to fill up space on your wall.

There really are a lot of pieces to choose from, and gamers of a certain vintage will probably recognize the majority of the scenes depicted. There’s a Street Fighter II one with Guile and Chun Li wrecking a car. There’s a Battletoads one showing one of the most absurdly difficult levels in any game ever. The Sonic the Hedgehog one has the blue speedster circling a loop in Green Hill Zone, and the Mega Man 2 one shows the big robotic fish that spits out robotic shrimp.

They all look great, and the $29.99 asking price is very reasonable for a piece of art you’re going to hang on the wall. The selection above isn't all of them, either. Check out the full set of Pixel Frames to see even more.
