Overkill’s The Walking Dead is now slated for a release in the second-half of 2017.
The news comes following a $40 million investment by Korean game company Smilegate into the game’s publisher, Starbreeze. The deal sees Starbreeze receive a 10-year right to develop, publish, and distribute a new entry in Smilegate’s Crossfire franchise, which has around 500 million users to date.
It also allows Starbreeze the chance to release PayDay 2 and Overkill’s The Walking Dead in Asian markets through the Smilegate distribution platform.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead was originally expected at some point in 2016. While we don’t know much about what the game is, series creator Robert Kirkman did offer some details idea to fans last year.
