This list contains films specific to The Overlook Film Festival. If you're looking for general horror goodness, take a look at our list of the Best Movies on Shudder Right Now!

Shudder has become the premier destination for all things horror, picking up midnighter faves from film festivals all year round. Now that we’ve just covered the first in-person Overlook Film Festival since the pandemic kicked off in 2019, we wanted to give you a breakdown of all the movies from the festival that will be headed to the horror streamer so you can experience them at home.

Note: The below dates are accurate at the time of publication.

Resurrection

Shudder Date: August 5, 2022

Rebecca Hall can’t get enough of being traumatized in houses, I guess! Hall plays the well-put together Margaret. Her life seems to be exactly the way she wants it to be. In fact, it’s almost perfect! That is, until someone from her past comes knocking. This tightly wound psychological thriller will keep you guessing, and you’ll be entertained the whole dang time.

Deadstream

Shudder Date: Pending

If you’re looking for the perfect combination of legit scares and horror-comedy, look no further than Joseph and Vanessa Winter’s Deadstream. The former plays Shawn Ruddy, a disgraced streamer doing everything he can to win back his following. Unfortunately for him, “everything” means hanging out in what appears to be a legit haunted house for a full night. The schadenfreude is strong with this one!

Good Madam

Shudder Date: Late 2022

Chumisa Cosa delivers a jaw-dropping performance as Good Madam’s Tsidi. When she’s forced to move back in with her estranged mother — a live-in nurse caring for a white patient dubbed “Madam” — all she wants to do is heal the bonds that have been broken throughout the years. However, her mother’s neverending devotion to the woman in her charge and the house she raised her children in play in tandem with South African servant culture to make reconciliation seemingly impossible. Seek Good Madam out as soon as you can.

Mad God

In theaters and on Shudder June 16

Phil Tippett’s Mad God could not possibly be more aptly named. You know him as the dinosaur wrangler from the Jurassic Park franchise (you had one job, Phil!) and the visual effects maven from such favorites as RoboCop, Starship Troopers, Star Wars, Willow… the list’s really long, ok? Tippett’s been the best of the best in the industry for quite some time, and he’s almost always working on someone else’s project.

Enter Mad God, Tippett’s decade-long passion project. It’s weird, it’s long, and I can’t even tell you that it’s very good. But what I can say is that a master wanted to create something and he did and I’m glad that he got to.

She Will

Shudder Date: October 14, 2022

Are you looking for witchy goodness? Charlotte Colbert’s She Will brings the witchy goodness. Alice Krige plays Veronica, a woman recovering from a double mastectomy, and Kota Eberhardt plays her caregiver Desi. As her body heals physically, her newfound connection with both the land and her spirituality help Veronica conquer her demons and learn to warm to new experiences and the people who care about her. It also happens to be absolutely beautiful to watch. Cinematographer Jamie Ramsay shot the heck out of this movie.

Sissy

Shudder Date: Pending

Influencer horror has been on the rise for some time now, and Hannah Barlow and Kane Senes’ Sissy should absolutely be on the list of any fan of the subgenre. We’re major advocates of teen horror ‘round these parts, and Sissy brings it in spades with the story of former besties Cecilia (Aisha Dee) and Emma (Hannah Barlow). Both girls have moved on since high school. Emma’s thrilled to be married and Cecilia is now a successful influencer preaching peace and love to her eager followers. But things get dicey when fate brings the two back together, as bullying and possessiveness overtake what was meant to be an otherwise normal hen’s weekend.

Watcher

Shudder Date: Pending

Chloe Okuno came out swinging with her stalker-focused feature debut, Watcher. Maika Monroe plays Julia, an isolated housewife stuck in a new country where she doesn’t speak the language and has no friends or connections outside of her husband Francis (Karl Glusman). Like most stalking narratives, Watcher is a bit of a slow burn. But it packs all the punch you’d hope for when Julia’s finally had enough in the film’s third act.
