Two new teams are joining the Overwatch League for the 2019 season, Activision Blizzard announced today.
Atlanta and Guangzhou, China, will be the homes of the new teams, which will become the league’s 13th and 14th franchises, respectively. Atlanta Esports Ventures, a partnership between Cox Enterprises and Province, Inc., will operate the Atlanta-based team, while the Guangzhou franchise is owned by Nenking Group, owners of the Chinese Basketball Association’s Guangzhou Long-Lions.
Official team names, logos, and rosters for the new franchises, as well as news on “other new Overwatch League teams,” will be revealed at a later date, according to Activision Blizzard.
