Overwhelmed and discouraged

I'm new to vaping and starting to feel very overwhelmed and discouraged with the whole experience. Smoked cigarettes for about 24 years at about 1.5 to 2 packs a day and I have been smoke free for 9 weeks now. Started with a Smok Alien starter kit and after different factory issues with the first 2 mods, I am currently using a Smok T - Priv with the big baby beast tank and the baby X4 coil. The problem I'm having now is a burnt taste from the factory coils after only 1-4 days of use. I prime every coil and let them sit for about 10 min before using them. I go through 10-15 ml of juice a day and the wattage I run is anywhere from 45-70 depending on which juice I'm using. I tend to prefer the sweeter juices like the berry, fruit and candy flavors. I have limited time while at work so I keep my mod in my pocket, I don't think a RDTA tank would be a very good fit for me and I don't like the idea of a dripper. I tried the RBA coil that came in the kit but couldn't get anywhere close to same flavors that I was getting with the factory coils. Is there a different tank or coil that would be better for my preferences and last longer than a day or two.

I vape my Alien with the Baby Beast X4 coils at 27.5 Watts using High or Max VG liquids and get 5K to 10K puffs and go through 100's of ML's of e-Liquids. Might want to try starting lower and working you way up. I stopped at this wattage because the cloud, temp and flavor is what I want. YMMV

I don't push the x4 much over 50w, prime it for more like 30 min, keep that tank at least half full, and allow it a few seconds to rewick between hits. I will also raise the nic and take shorter pulls.

Not sure you want a full size cloud beast in your pocket, but I find it less finicky.....though the baby has better flavor.

The new Freemax FireLuke is getting great reviews. I don't have one yet but probably will.

If you prefer mid wattage vaping, the original Cleito is good with 0.4 coil. Tobeco Super Tank Mini is good option.

I even like some Uwell tanks, but they require more tinkering than I would recommend to someone just starting out.

Yes, that is key to coil longevity due to the size of the holes in the coils. When I have run them down to almost empty those coils did not go for the 10K I have gotten. Last one was about 6K but I was vaping mostly a 50/50 blend.

Try OBS Engine Nano. 5ml, top af, very good flavor, easy deck and wick. Nanos are the only tanks I use away from home anymore.

The only tanks I use away from home have screw in coils that I keep spares of in my vape bag. Last thing I want to be doing anytime is building a deck and wicking coils.

I wick before I leave house. Use AVS fused Clapton coils, lasts for weeks.

I mainly go for flavor and whatever I get for a cloud doesn't really matter to me. I am trying very small pin holes in the wicking slots on the coil I put in this morning.

Using lower watts seems to have a dull or diminished flavor

I have been curious with the cleito 120 tank but didn't know if it would be the same as what I already have.

Any thoughts on ceramic coils ?

I have experienced the frustration you're going through and I would recommend one change in your setup that should make your journey to being totally tobacco free much easier...and cheaper too! Forget that tank you're using and get yourself an Aspire Nautilus 2 with the .7 ohm coils. Run these coils between 17 and 22 Watts and enjoy a very respectable amount of very flavorful vapor. You'll not have any dry hit issues (even with Max vg juice), coils are everywhere and they're cheap, and it's pretty easy on juice consumption. It seems to me as though someone sold you something that is just not what you're looking for. I may be wrong but I carefully read the thread and we both seem to have the same vaping style (not too hot but very flavorful with clouds not being a priority).

Pin holes seem like a logical solution to get more juice to the coil, but actually... no. When you insert the pin, you displace the wick, so you actually have less wick drawing ejuice into the actual coil. Not to mention, pin holes can cause spitting if to large. Personally i find all premade coil heads less flavorful. If you want flavor, get yourself a nice Tsunami RDA. Buy the coils (or make them, its easy..*you can even buy pre-claptoned wire by the spool*)
Use the coil you want, at the ohm you want, and get the flavor you want. You don't have to drip every time you puff.. i only drip every 10 puffs or so. A nice take for when you go out is nice, but I use the tsunami everywhere. (everywhere vaping is permitted). lower air flow, and adjust wattage to taste with a good "flavor" tank should hit your bullseye. I also found the IJOY RDTA COMBO very good. You build coils just like a regular RDA but it has a tank below the coils to hold ejuice. (small cap for flavor, wider cap for cloud) <--- also handy to know about any atomizer.
