Penny Dreadful unleashed a beastly penultimate Season 2 episode with "And Hell Itself My Only Foe," which saw Vanessa follow in Malcolm's unwise footsteps and enter Evelyn's mansion alone, causing the rest of Team Dreadful to follow in an attempt to rescue them both.
Once inside, our heroes fell into a set of traps, which sadly spelled the end for Sembene, who got locked in a stairwell with Ethan right as the full moon hit and he wolfed out. It was fairly intense scene, made more emotional by the fact that Sembene's major character moments this year involved his friendship with Ethan and his belief that Ethan's curse was a divine gift meant for good. Sure, I wish we'd gotten to know Sembene a bit better overall but since this was the way he went, it felt fitting. And I appreciated the fact that Ethan tried, in earnest, to kill himself before the transformation.
