If last year’s PES was the revolution, with the once-great series finally returning to form, the latest instalment is looking more like an evolution. That’s no bad thing – after years in the shadow of FIFA, it’d be a stupid idea to mess too much with the formula that made PES 2015 so great. But this follow-up is more about building on last year’s rock solid foundation, with incremental improvements rather than anything radical.
The E3 demo is a stripped-back exhibition match designed to show off some of the new features on the pitch. There are only a handful of teams – the full roster, including licenses, will come at Gamescom – but within a few minutes it’s easy to pick out some of the improvements.
