If you have never had one, a pizzelle is a wafer thin, crisp cookie. Sort of like a waffle cone. It isn't super sweet, and has a hint of almond and anise. I have posted this elsewhere but have since refined my recipe.

Pizzelle

2% cookie (FA)
4% sugar cookie (FW)
3% amaretto (CAP)
1% licorice (LA)
1% french vanilla (CAP)
1% butter (CAP)

It doesn't seem like there would be a lot of flavor, but it works. It isn't supposed to be "in your face", much like the real cookie.

I know this has been here a while but this is such a good recipe. It's perfect for the holidays, especially for me (My wife who would be 1stInCommand has a huge Italian family so this will be a hit) I tend to.add a drop or two of FA almond and dial back the licorice a drop but it's not necessary. It's really really good as is and I let mine sit 2-3days and it's ready. Gonna try messing with a little LA. icing and see if I can get to an anginette type of thing with this

Thanks 2nd. I really like this recipe, even though it is sort of a "niche" thing. Almond is a really good add on for this, and I have actually made it with 1% fa marzipan, and 1% fa almond in place of the amaretto.

Nice with the marzipan! I'm gonna effort a pignoli cookie the near future as you've given me some Italian cookie inspiration! Gotta find something that gives the seedy and slightly earthy nature of the pine nuts.

Thanks for the recipe. I have made them for Christmas for the last 40 or so years and they are always a big hit. My recipe is a little different than yours though :) Being made to eat instead of vape.

PIZZELLES
Christmas Recipe
12 eggs
2 cup butter
4 bottles anise
8 cups all purpose flour
6 teaspoons baking powder
4 cups sugar
