I have someone wanting to buy something from me. I've bout things from people here 4-5 times, and each time, I sent payment, it cleared, and they shipped.

I'm just wondering if this is how things normally go.

Is there any other concrete method that would ease both the seller and buyer's conscience? Or does the seller just have to have the trust that the guy(or gal) is going to send the stuff?

Like I said I have bought before and this is how it always went down, and I've traded with people and been screwed, but I really love this forum and the trading post has been awesome. I don't want to give up on my hopes for the majority of the people on here are cool and not scammers or people trying to get free stuff.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated, and if this is the wrong thread sorry also!

It is based on trust of both buyer and seller, to get a better feeling of that trust see our feedback we have in place, it helps members know how many sucessful trades/sales some of our members have done, hope that helps:)

Yeah that's what I thought, but it sucks when I've bought a half dozen things and could only get one person to leave feedback I should have like 5 positive and one extra positive for the guy I traded with who never sent my stuff, I guess I should say the guy I bought and shipped juice to but never sent me mine. Lol

If you are new to a forum and selling, accept payment via paypal goods only.. Dont ask for gift payment as it throws a red flag.

If buying, send payment via paypal goods only, dont send gift payment unless its a reputed member..

For trades.. Well its a risk

V8 pony it is

Yeah, that's what I thought. I understand where the buyer is coming from, but I've been there too and had to take the chance. So, I guess it is what it is. I really appreciate the help!

I would Try contacting the folks here that you did the exchange with again and see if they can re-do the feed back for you.

If YOU are selling, you need only to ship quickly once you're paid and provide tracking if applicable. Buying is a bit trickier. Use the FB of the seller to get some idea of their trustworthiness. Using a credit card through PP can provide some protection and as said, do not cheap out and use friends/family.

Unless you're buying a high-end original device, there's usually not enough money involved to make it worth a scammer's time to mess with. And most times, a little patience goes a long ways- life happens and can get in the way of even the most honest traders. Just recently there was a cretin who bad mouthed a seller up and down. Just would not believe the seller hadn't ripped him off. Then, after the seller got his affairs in order, he sent this loudmouth his stuff- w/extras to boot. Not saying you'll ever see your juice but I would continue to pester them, and there's always the wall o'shame. Yeah I'm talking about YOU, Vandurith40 you dirty lying thief!

Honestly man, if it were me, I'd give him the option of paying via goods and services or family and friends... tell him if he chooses goods and services he pays any extra fees incurred... Only when payment has cleared should you send... I see it from both ends, but to me, that's how it should go... IMO anyways...

@BenJammin the only problem with the "family and friends" option is that it takes away almost every safeguard in place to protect your investment. Essentially, you are just giving money to someone with no assurance that you will ever get anything in return. If you are going to make payment this way, do your research on the seller. If they have a lot of good feedback, then you are probably okay to do it, if it's their 1st sale, your risk level is MUCH higher...

I understand that, that's why I said give them the option... if they really don't want to pay the extra fees that come with goods and services then they can pay the family and friends... as sprad would be the seller, this wouldn't effect him in either way... was just a suggestion to let the buyer decide... I know that's what I always do anyways.

Fair enough, I was looking at it from the "Buyer" perspective. As the seller, it does put the ball in your court and give you a few more protections. I guess I should have read your response a little closer. Sorry, my bad. :)

I also feel that by giving him the option, not "PAY ME VIA FRIENDS AND FAMILY," it should ease tension a little... At least in my opinion... But I believe I seen the thread that @sprad05 is talking about, and the buyer wants him to provide a tracking number, then he'll send the payment within 4 hours... Idk, to me that just seems a little odd... I mean think about it, everything you buy, you have to give money for first, whether it be in an actual store (granted here you can hold it and see it until you pay for it), a verified vendor, or someplace like ebay... You give money first then item gets sent to you. End of story, that's my way of seeing things anyways... If they don't want to do it that way, then move on... there will be other buyers I promise...

I've sold/traded quite a bit of stuff here also and only got one feedback :( I don't really mind since I've never had any complaints or problems selling stuff, and one good feedback is better than nothing or bad feedback ;)

I also agree that it's best to give the buyer the option of paying friends and family or goods and services as long as the buyer pays fees. I also like to give shipping options, first class w/ tracking, priority, or fedex as long as they pay the actual cost.

If Benjammin is correct and the person wants you to send first before getting payment I would be very wary. Personally, I would not risk it unless they are very active/trusted around here.

Stick to the people with feedback and who are active in the forum. Generally new people who trade with members with feed back must send items first.

Lol, thanks for the help guys. Yeah, well I told the guy that's how it would have to go, and I also told him first off, that his profile being started on Sunday set off alarms. And with how he wanted to do it, he could easily canc the payment as soon as he saw the package was shipped. The only other thing I know of that could possibly be done would be getting the shipping label done and holding it until the money clears, but then what's the point of that, may as well do it like usual.

But @darkox im in the same boat. Done prolly half a doz and only had one person leave feedback, but I feel I've posted enough non trading post stuff, that I hope everyone could feel like they trust me.

I'm with you @sprad05 ... I have done zero trading and not much buying here, but next time I do, I hope that the fact I'm pretty active will be in my favor.

Dev - when dealing with people with little to no feedback I I always look to post count and the content of some of the posts. I would have no problem buying/selling/trading with you (I also check to see what feedback a person has left for others because I am due some feedback from people I have left feedback for).

I do the same on other "hobby" forums and have yet to be screwed over.

Thanks @cage ... I do a lot of the same checks. Learned the hard way from the classified section on another big vaping forum ...
