Plum Veil keeps shorting!!!

Hi guys,

I really need some advice I'm new to building for the last 2 days I have been trying to build on my Plum veil clone I'm doing 6 wraps on NI80 24awg I'm also using a Smok r200 mod. I don't know what I'm doing wrong! The coil I build keeps shorting and I'm going to end up going mad! I'll attach a photo of my 20th coil I have tried to build with the coil master.

Any help or advice on what I'm doing wrong would be great.

Thank you
Steph

It looks as it might touch the top cap when you put it on - bring it in a little perhaps? Are you checking on an ohm reader first?

Yes I'm checking on an ohm reader I bought the cool master kit, that coil read at 0.5 ohms. The wire seems to keep bending at the both ends of the coil as you can probably see from the photo the wire going into the negative post. I just don't understand why all my coils keep shorting.

Are your screws tight, and are you checking on an ohm reader with the top cap on?

As tight as can be without snapping the wire! I've just done that and my other coil is now reading 0.4 ohms this one hasn't shorted but I can't help but think it doesn't look great.

It doesn't matter what it looks like, just that it fires nicely from the inside out!

Looks like you pulled it in just a tad, and that may have made the difference.
They don't need to hug the outer edge.
And by the way... those are both 9 wrap coils, not 6. ;)

You might snip your legs off closer as well. Either with a tool or by wiggling the wire after you tighten it down... it'll weaken and break at the post screw.

If you still can't get it to not short, and you KNOW the coil is tight and not touching where it shouldn't... I'd suggest carefully disassembling the Plume to see if there's a connection issue or damage inside and that the insulators are in good shape.
