Hey VU,

I am reaching out to you for your vast knowledge. Before I get into my question / quandary let me start with my vaping background. (Or skip to **** for the meat and potatoes)
I started with a basic vv pen battery and a kangertech protank mini I believe. That is what got me off cigs.
Then, just like any gluttonous American I decided to get a kangertech subvod. Still a pen style but much more vapor.
This brings me to today.
*********
I have been digging around the forum the last few days and finally decided to post.
I am in the market for a brand new setup. Mod and atty.
When I first started looking around naturally I landed on a tfv8 and hpriv. Because who doesn't need that. Actually what landed me there 1st was the fact that it had pre-made coils and a deck I could build on if I wanted. I am interested in building a bit.
A day or two went by and I decided that the Smok setup was most likely overkill and I would regret it as my new everyday vape. Clouds that size would be a bit overkill and i would like to see my beautiful wife cough*tv*cough while on the couch. Also idk if I want that much attention while walking down the street. because of this my focus turned to above ohm vaping.
I have barely touched the tip of the iceberg.

This is where you come in.
My most generic question of all time is - What tank should I get?
My MAIN focus is flavor. Repeat FLAVOR.
I am open to anything other than a dripper or mechanical mod.
I am not against subohm or above ohm vaping. I prefer a tank that has pre-made coils but one with a build deck OPTION would be a bonus.

I would like to keep my new build under 100usd. That is a max budget but if there is something out there that is above and beyond, I may go over budget.

TL/DR: looking for best tank for flavor. Not dripper and under $100.

ok 2 mods in my opinion to buy
an ipv 3l1
or ipv5
WHY they can do almost anything
the 3li can not do TC for SS and is more expensive..BUT ITS A TANK..mine is 18 months old and still working like new with MULTIPLE NUMEROUS drops on concrete, gravel, pavement etc

The ipv5 can do the ss tc if you care about that
bot are YIHI boards which are solid

ive picked up my IPV5 for only $29 and its a damn good mod

now other mods to consider are the rx200 or rx200s which run around $40 and can do everything youd want

if you want to buy something you can rebuild with parts taht should not ever be effected by the FDA regs...go with a dimebox or hexohm v2 both excellent mods. no tc just pure 120 watts of power thast adjustable

youll neeed good batteris so go to liionwholesale.com or rtdvapor and get some LG HG2s double the amount you need t power your mod...so you always have one set charged
get a decent charger
liionwholesale has the i4 which is a basic 4 bay charger for like $17

then tanks
well damn that is a tough one since you want premade and a build deck
tfv8 might be your best bet, but figuring out which of the 2 billion different coils for it that best suit your needs is the trick

someone else might have more opions on tanks because i switched to rtas and havent looked back like 6-8 months ago and dont even know what tanks with premade coils are out there atm
but if you go the rta route
grab a griffin 25 you can shut it down to single coil mode and get good flavor and less clouds
and then switch it to a dual coil for clouds and more flavor

Hey Matt,
Thanks for the ample info and knowledge. Very useful.
I've heard of the Griffin 25 but had no idea that you could cut it down to 1 coil. Does that mean the power is essentially cut in half?
Is that a common thing?

Also, I wanted to throw in ceramic coils??? Better for flavor from what read. Any drawbacks?

No - you can build single coils to suit your needs. Sub ohm or higher ohm.

You might want to look at the Crown for premade coils and you can get a rebuildable deck for it.

Before attempting to build, especially double coils, you really need to understand ohms law and how it works - even with a regulated mod.

When you build a deck with two coils, they have to be nearly identical ohms. When you install them, your ohms will be HALF of what a single coil is.

So if you install two coils at 1.5 ohms each, the atomizer will read .75 ohms.

If you put in just one 1.5 ohm coil, it should read 1.5.

Yep, it gets a little complicated but it is very rewarding, the vape is better, it's cheaper and lasts longer than premade.

I think you were right on with your mod choice.
As for tanks....
As much as I hate to admit it, the Uwell Crown still seems to hold water in this case.
(can't speak for the Crown 2, I don't have it and probably wont)
Aspire Cleito
Tobeco Super Tank (not the super tank 25 or the mini or whatever)
Sense Herakles Plus
I mention those tanks because you asked for flavor.
I don't build so I am only speaking for the prebuilt side.
Although they each do have a build deck optional.
Me personally, I don't feel that the Crown is "all that" but MANY seem to think it is.
I have two and just don't get to them much anymore because other tanks do better for me.
However while I was showing someone who was interested in getting started in vaping, he tried about 15 different setup I had out for him.
My intent was to only allow him to test them and then I was going to tell him where to get them.
He said "I've got cash in hand and I want this one" as he pointed to the H-Priv with the original Crown on it.
Since I collect all these and keep everything I can't have in use at that minute on a display shelf in perfect condition I was extremely hesitant but made him a good deal.
So now I have to buy a new H-Priv so that I can replace the black/red one that he now has that completed my set of three.
Sooooooooooooooo evidently the Crown is desirable still to many people.
Maybe it is me that is off his rocker.
I still have one so I'm ok with it all.

well i was going to say left but if your after a rebuild deck and premade coils you cant go wrong with what has been suggested.

you can even read up on which tanks support the aspire decks and also have aspire coils. Melo , atlantis and so on

You can also look into the evic vtc mini. It was my first mod and I still use it to this day. Also the Pico by eleaf seems to be a favorite of this forum. As for tanks my favorite sub ohm tank is the herakles plus. They just came out with a new version, the herakles pro which uses the same coils as the plus. Hope that helps. Just watch a lot of you tube reviews before coming to a final decision.
