i was at Fatddadys looking at some parts and happened on an safety upgrade kit for the Noisy Crickett. they are including a free tube so you can use your left over parts as a standalone tube mod. for $15 i figured WTH. just arrived and works wonderfully. i think i may just use it when i leave the house and save my more expensive mods.

FD says in the description "Unfortunately, there are certain features that are very dangerous even for seasoned vapers", but doesn't mention any safety features of his product. I don't doubt it's a nicer button, but safety features? I'd say a lockout on the fire button would be a safety feature, but that's missing.

Missing on the original too. So? FD is just warning you that in a hybrid with the old button on the tube you need to be careful. So if you take off the hybrid connector and stick it on the tube with the old button - well it fires if you set it down on the table and you need to be sure your atty is okay for a hybrid connection.

So unless you want to downgrade your NC to a single tube, then there is no sense in buying his new button since there is no additional safety features? I guess I don't get it... no big deal.

The current button kind of sucks - ypou need a coin to tighten and loosen and they melt. This is an upgrade - button with better delrin and magnets. The connection is now a 510 if you want to use attys with flat center pins. The tube is a throw in so you don't have to waste your old button and hybrid connector. Like a clone SMPL. I ordered two ( I have two Crickets)

Ah, got it. I have 3 crickets, one was the very first batch that came out of Cyber liquids, and the other two haven't used yet. The button is still in excellent condition after almost a year of use. I certainly see the use of that 510 for some people though. Good idea. FD should start selling the button and the connector separately.

If you're using a coin on the button you're over tightening it. Screw the fire button on first till it just snugs up, then the hybrid cap on your atty first and snug that up a little tighter to the mod. That puts correct tension on the rocker connection. Have never had any issues with the buttons (3), and never had one melt. That "upgrade" kit is more like a neutering kit for those who probably shouldn't be using a hybrid series mech mod in the first place. :D

SMPL and cricket are very safe in my opinion. If you don't want it to fire, unscrew the firing button few turns and it will not fire. On the cricket you can turn it up side down as well. Never had a problem.

I have the kit. Wasn't really worries about making the cricket safer, just wanted to see if the button was better. I actually had more problems with misfires with the new button.

Like Cricket's button the way it is, but I like the idea of the hybrid short tube mode with Cricket's button as well :) Can that 510 in the kit be converted to hybrid?

Love the upgrade kit, brought my NC's out of the dust bin. I really like the included tube also, using the stock hybrid deck I replaced on the cricket this makes a very nice little single tube mod.
