Prey, the new Predator movie directed by Dan Trachtenberg, is coming to Hulu this August. 20th Century Studios has revealed the release date with a short, tense teaser trailer.
The teaser, which reveals the August 5 release date, features a Comanche woman running from a wooded area into a field. There she meets a second Comanche woman, armed with a bow, who draws the string taught just before the Predator’s iconic three-dot targeting laser appears on her forehead. Aside from one more shot featuring the woman holding an axe, there’s very little else shown.
As revealed last year, Prey is a predator prequel set 300 years ago in the world of the Comanche Nation. Indigenous actor Amber Midthunder stars as hero Naru, a warrior who protects her tribe from the claw-mouthed menace.
Prey is a ‘Hulu Original’ and is coming straight to the streaming service with seemingly no theatrical release. Director Trachtenberg is best known for his work on the incredibly tense 10 Cloverfield Lane, and has also worked on episodes of Black Mirror and The Boys.
