Hello, I am new to the forum. This is my question...
I have an Eleaf 50w with a melo2. I have .5 ohm coil. I'm firing at 35w to achieve the flavor that I had with my Atlantis 2 with .5 coils firing at 22w. Does this seem right?
Make that 2 questions...
The other thing that I've noticed with the melo is, I put the coil in, it reads .5 until I Vape, then it reads anywhere from .7-.9 Is this normal? Or do I have a defective batch of coils?

The coils are different. So perhaps the wattage difference is necessary to achive the result you are looking for.

As to the varying coil resistance, are you using Kenthal coils? Ni coils?

Yes, Kenthal and Ni (nickel) are two different types metal in the coils.

As to the Ti coils, I don't use titanium so I don't know if it's normal, but I would venture to say it is.

IF you are using Ti coils, you should use them in temp control mode, not wattage.

I don't know if your 50 watt Istick has a temp control mode.

I'll tag in for some help and maybe some clarity. @Huckleberried @Whiskey

If yours doesn't have the temp control option, you could always get regular Kenthal coils.

I'm not a titanium vaper, so I'm not sure if it's safe to vape Ti in power mode (wattage) - I do know that it can change resistance significantly under heat, which could explain your different readings. Hoping someone will chime in here to tell you whether this is safe or whether you should stick to Kanthal/stainless steel coils on a non-TC mod.

Set and lock your resistance when the coil is cold.

The issue is that it sounds like the OP is using a Ti coil in power mode on an iStick 50 (a non-TC device). Can she do that?

I have no advice on running titanium in power mode. I'd try the coil builders thread... The children of the basement. There is no combination of weird electronic shit these guys haven't tried. They'll know.

Next thing you know you'll be commenting on a thread that's already in the Coils sub...or commenting on a spam thread instead of hitting the report button, running the risk of some software glitch @Jim_MDP'ing you...

you should not be running Ti in power mode. The wire itself has a resistance increase with temp. As the op has seen it goes up fast.
i would advise to either get a tc mod or switch to ss or kantal coils.
