Problem with pre-wrapped alien wire

I recently ordered some pre-made alien wire from HI-TEC and I can't build with it because as I'm wrapping it around the drill bit when I get to the third or fourth wrap the wire kinks sort of like a hose. It stops making a smooth, flat circle and instead makes a 90 degree bend. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? If so, any suggestions??? I've tried tempering the wire before wrapping it but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Is the wire completely straight before you started wrapping the coils? Sometimes if there are twists in the wire it will do that. If it's completely straight then all you have to do I make sure the flat side of the wire is facing the wrapping tool and just be carefull not twist the wire as you wrap. I've only had that happen to me with fused Clapton wire when it's not straight and is twisted in spots. I'd imagine if you bought the wire then there shouldn't be any twists...
