Sony's forthcoming firmware update for PlayStation 4 reportedly includes a "Boost Mode" option for PS4 Pro users, improving the performance for games that don't already feature enhancements when played on the Pro.
This new mode was discovered by beta testers for the System Update 4.50, which also adds external hard drive support. According to a screenshot taken by PSN user Mladen Tapavicki (via Polygon), Boost Mode provides "improved gameplay, including higher frame rates, for some games that were released before the introduction of PS4 Pro (CUH-7000 series)."
