PSA: Arctic Dolphin Anita upgrade

Saw that there is an "Upgrade Software" on the Arctic Dolphin site, but I couldn't get it to do anything. I submitted a message through their site and received this response:

About Anita Upgrade software,yes ,it is a firmare upgrade,we will put the operation steps on website later,pls check it later.Also press the + and - button at the same time ,then plug USB cable(without install battery),and press start button and update successfully.

Haven't tried it yet...just got my Anita yesterday, but will probably try it later today. Just thought I'd post for other Anita owners.

Didn't know there was one. Works great so far. I might see how others handle the update before I do mine. Thanks though

Which file did you try? The second one looks like it's from 2017 but I wouldn't know which one. One is 9.kb the other is a little larger file.

I did the one specifically for the Anita. I went ahead and installed it, but don't know what changed. Maybe they'll post a changelog when they update the site.

Hopefully so. Maybe some Tc parameters or something. Who knows. I definitely like the mod though

Hello!
If interested, here is the modified recent official firmware which I personally use:

• changed graphics and some defaults;
• old / new coil dialog in TC mode only;
• no auto set power and temperature on new coil;
• displays coil lock state;
  
• auto-lock coil resistance when choosing "old coil";
• battery level indicator moved to bottom (since mod9);
• realtime coil resistance during puff (since mod10);
• display battery voltage instead of output voltage while locked (mod12);
• battery level indicator with battery voltage (mod13).

This is official firmware with some minor changes on personal preferences for more convenient usage.
The official updater pack contains downloader and the firmware itself. It can be opened and modified with generic resource editor, Resource Hacker for example:

Resource named 4000 is the firmware itself, unencrypted.
The firmware saved to .bin can be decompiled with IDA Pro:

And then edit it as you like
Graphics was replaced with simple homebrew tool for parsing/editing and a little help of Paint and TheDotFactory. Changing some algorithms required modification of the machine code, Online ARM Converter may help.
Modified firmware is packed back to .exe with Resource Hacker, and here it is.

It's all quite simple, just wanted to chill out and take a break from work on ArcticFox and RedPanda.

It's been about 20 years since I've done any assembly code or hex-editing, and no ARM at all. Guess I'll leave that to the pros.
