PSA
I just wanted to throw out a little PSA here. About a month or so ago IMRbatteries had a sale on "OEM P26A" batteries for like 1.99 each (IIRC) and i know it was posted here and people ordered from there myself included. Now mind you this is not a "shit on imr" thread and i will still continue to use them for other batteries as i never had an issue before but in regards to this specific issue i have a story to tell
So i ordered 15 "OEM P26A" batteries from them during that sale (and some cases). The thought process was a set of 4, set of 3, 3 sets of 2, and 2 singles. I didn't really need it, but at that price i figured why not. you can never have too many batteries. I didn't have time to go and label them right away or anything so they just sat in the box for about a month. This past weekend I did and was going to check/charge them and label them and use them. It's always good to check your batteries. The cases that they came in (free cases for each pair) half were broken and useless sadly. but I don't care about that. the issue is of the 10 batteries. 5 i got were duds. 10 of them were charged at 3.5ish which is normal. 2 were charged at 2.09 which is well below the 2.5V minimum recommended but not terrible. 2 were at 1.7V and 1 was at 1.46V. If it was 1 bad battery I wouldn't be too concerned, shit happens. but 5 out of 15 was alarming enough for me to make this post. It's come to my attention that they aren't a official molicel dealer and the cells are likely grade B that wasn't good enough for the official sellers. I'm not sure why IMR would have purchased these for resale TBH. With that said i'll use the good ones. I wound up making it a set of 3, a set of 4, and 3 singles. I wouldn't use them in a mech though personally or try to push them. I'd probably try and keep them under 20A to be safe.
If anyone else had issues i'd like to hear you chime in, but i wanted to get this PSA out just in case if you took part in that sale
EDIT: wasn't my intent here by any means, but wanted to say IMR apparently lurks here lol and read this thread and asked for my order number, and refunded me the cost of the 5 batteries which was a cool thing to do and wasn't asked or needed, but i think they deserve some credit for that kind of service as well
