Questions...the Future

Just thinking about the future.....IF tanks, mods and stuff go off the shelves how will one obtain parts, like Orings, replacement decks and parts, tank glass, etc.

I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to start batting around this question....like Roxy on the Boreas, she could complile and post a complete list of O-rings (think she already has on this) sizes and sources, the dimensions of the glass and replacement sources, deck replacement parts or replacement decks. The Merlin, Alleria, etc.

Others that have contacts might come up with the same information for Geekvapes stuff at least the more popular items like Griffin, Griffin 25, etc.

Others could complile others, like SMOK items etc....Direct contact web links and/or phone numbers and emails for suppliers in China or other sources of equipment and parts (Mettico maybe)?

This would go for the more popular and well distributed mods as well.....

If we can't get the items we could damn well keep the ones we have in shape.....maybe the forum could start a thread specifically to address these items..........BIG FINGER to the Fat Dumb A*** !

O-rings are easy to get, you just need to know what size you need. Places like The O-Ring Store sell them. Sizes are inside diameter and thickness.

Glass tubes, screws, wicking, wire and other standard parts that are used for other things can be had much the same way too.

For decks it's going to be much harder IMO. They are proprietary to the atty and will be known to be ecig components if anyone checks.

This is so true Lucy. The average vaper and the people still smoking are who are going to be hit the hardest by the new regulation crap.

OTOH, I doubt anyone can stop the vapers who are in the game now and understand it. It wasn't so long ago people were vaping teabags ... not that I'ld want to go back to that (or did it myself, a bit before my time ) but I think it just goes to show how innovative we are and how hard it will be to stop us.

Good point, several of the newer RTA's and RDTA' could provide these items as 80% units...very similar to the 80% lowers for AR rifiles. Until the item is completed it is NOT usable, making replacement bottoms and decks that would require the COMSUMER to do a small amount of Dremel or Drill press machining and some easy assemble deck BLANKS. Until an item is useable in a device and a finished product it would be a stretch to call them accessories or components...component of an item is not a component until it is finished and can be assembled.....the rules are not aimed at the end consumer.

There are a lot of independent vapers with the skills to do this (as do the manufacturer's) and through various outlets and the forums could produce these unfinished items with instructions on how to do this with some minor effort.......it's a hobby right?

Example Boreas build deck, SMOK RDTA's, The Ijoy Tornado, etc....no installed post or no juice holes...holes required to be drilled and possibly the post holes (that are filled with a Teflon easily drilled/milled material in order to make them "functional". Replacement 510 blocks sold with the spring, contacts and proper metric tap included with the "Kit"

There are a lot of unemployed or under employed engineer's and machinist with home shops or small machining business's that could do this....the XYZ Widget Company......with directed advertising, emails or through Hobby Shops....

You are right about newbs and current smokers as the real losers in all this.

I never had to vape a teabag either - but I am committed to doing so if it will keep me from smoking again, lol.

Thanks...always been told I have a weird mind.....I don't do authority figures well.

Another point, on some of the other RTA without replaceable decks a little "Reverse Engineering" could go a long way in keeping gear running, like selling miniature's in a wax sealed at both end's pyrex glass (or sealed with the drillable top and bottom assemblies)........Now all I need is a retired engineer and some machinist .......................

I expect the parts would be somewhat more expensive than a fully completed tank (the Chinese could do it cheaper ...maybe), but with no other options, it becomes and option......

Now I'm not real familiar with 3D printer's but a heat and liquid resistant plastic could be used to replace the drip tips, tops, with the only real metal required in the base's and 510 connector's.
