RBA COIL GAUGE ?????

I am starting with sub ohm rba building. I have a smok tfve mini single deck, ijoy reaper etc. My question is as far as these and all other decks . 1) What is the best gauge for kanthal a1, NI 200, ss 316, and Clapton ? I know the smok mini has Clapton, but not sure of the gauge ? I am looking to build all size rba's single , double and triple in the future. Soooo what size gauge and/or gauges do you recommend ? I don't mind buying 24, 26,etc. I want to purchase all at once. And what size Clapton ? What are the MUST have gauges in your opinion ? Thanks Noobie here

I know for kanthal my go to is 24 gauge. Not to stiff to build and not to thin to were the coil melts down very easily. Depending on your coil build has pretty good ramp up time. Very affordable and can be bought at about any B&M. I've only Dabled in ni a little bit and when I have it was with 22 gauge ni80. Didn't care for that too much but that's me. Such a low resistance I had to have a lot of "wraps" which really slowed my ramp time. I have yet to get into stainless steel but want to very soon. And for clapton to be honest I've only ever had 1 set. And that's whatever came with my alpha ohmega bft. And I love them whatever they are lol. Sorry I'm not much help here.

I am strictly ss316L these days I use 22g, 24g, 26g, 28g for coils and cores, and 30g, 32g wrap wire for claptons
my claptons are either 22g wrapped in 30g, or 24g wrapped in 32g (depends on what they are going into)
I also do some twisted pair with the 26g and 28g (again depending on what I am using it in)
and of course straight up simple coils with all except the 30's
when I used kanthal it was 22g, 24g, 26g, 28g (never built claptons back then)
I did try ni200 for a short while when TC first showed up, but personally found it had a nasty taste, not to mention is utterly sucked to try and build with.. as far as ni200 goes I HIGHLY recommend you avoid it like the plague

I suggest you go to http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp
Play around with inputting you desired ohms for whatever set up, single coil or double coil. Input different gauge wires for target resistance & see if the number of wraps will fit in your chosen RBA, RTA, etc.

I would start with 28, 26 gauge wire in your desired material, example, kanthal or ss316L for starters you can always order different kinds after you have experimented a bit.

With lower gauge wires, usually it means lower ohms, and you will need a higher wattage to avoid a slow ramp up.

Go to advancedvapesupply.com they provide a lot of info on ohms of different types of wires.

For Claptons, I would suggest 26/32 or 28/32 gauge in Kanthal or ss316L.

All these wires will give you a higher ohm, a safe starting point as you have not stated what mod you are using until you gain more experience and read up on ohms law.

Hope this helps.
