RBA with all the features of a kayfun 4 ?

Love all the features of the kayfun but bought subtank --topbox mini and lemo2 clone. The subtanks were too airy but now with the rebuildables install i tend to like them for creamy or custard juices and the kayfun 4 for fruits. The lemo clone is horrible.Anyways is there a tank no airier than the subtank mini with all of the features (top fill--juice control and coil change with no juice loss} of the KF4 ? thanks

Why not grab another KFV4? I got 3 clones, all in different colors, so I know which flavor is in which.

Well you are not going to believe what my favorites are for MTL. Eight Subtanks with RBA Mini Plus usually at 10 watts (early versions with a tight draw) and two Mad Hatter v2 using Nautilus dip tips with a 0.9 ohm 26/32 Claptons (running at 21 watts and it sucks up the juice, but it is so good).

Phil Busardo has said that the Kayfun resistance isn't stable enough to do TC with. Have you ever tried it? The only Kayfun I have is a Heatvape v3.1 and it is still sitting in a box with the shrink wrap on it.

I was actually considering getting the Kanger Toptank, basically the Subtank but with top filling. I dug the pre-made coils/RBA deck option. But, I ended up going with the Kayfun. How is building on the RBA deck? It looked kinda small for my big guinea meathook hands.

I haven't done any temp control, still new to rebuilding, and I don't have a TC capable mod. Perhaps with the PEEK insulator upgrade kit, it would be better? I know he did a pretty extensive KFV4 vid but it's been a while since I watched it, I don't recall if he did a TC build. I do remember he did a fairly simple single coil Kanthal build in it, which I'm following, and I'm loving my results.

Well here is a Ni200 28g 9 wrap build I did on one the other day.

Spiffy. I do really like how the wire is snugged between the screw & the elevated sides of the deck.

I find myself having to wrap the wire completely around the grub screws to keep them from slipping out from underneath. Could be shitty screws that came with my clone (ordered some replacement 304 stainless ones on eBay), could be rookie mistakes.

I think they are super easy to build on really. I like the RBA Mini Plus better than the old ones with the little juice holes. So I had to buy six RBA Mini Plus RBAs. The other two Subtanks are the very first version that uses a totally different RBA.

I haven't seen any wire slip out from the screws with these. But I haven't tried any wire smaller than 28g. 32g you probably have to go around the screw.

How silent do you find the tank? A number of the review vids I watched, the tanks whistled and hissed when the airflow was tightened. For me that's a deal breaker. I love how the KFV4 is completely silent.

I bought my first Subtank about a year ago and I can't ever recall any of mine ever whistling.

I just re-watched Phil Busardo's Toptank review, and I remember why I opted to not go with it. There wasn't a way to shut off the juice flow when filling, they suggest that you close the top fill quickly to prevent flooding. Also, the Kayfun has slots cut out of the side top fill cap to allow air to escape while closing the cap to prevent pressure build up. Nitpicks, sure, but at the same price for a clone, I figured to go with the tank with the more complete feature list IMHO.

Yeah I am not a big fan of top fill tops. But one time I asked myself why am I unscrewing the whole tank off of the mod? Just flip it upside down and just unscrew the bottom of the tank and leave the base on the mod. Feels odd the first few times doing it that way and they is how I continue do it today. And then I noticed Phil Busardo and others in their videos does that too.

I hear ya. Everyone has their preferences on how they like to work their set up. I like the simplicity of leaving my tank on my battery, closing off the juice flow, opening the top fill, filling, closing the top cap and turning juice flow back on.

Yes that design should really work well. Quest4vape has a video (I can't find it right now) where he showed how to top fill a Crown tank (I have two of those). It too doesn't have a flow control either, just airflow control and that is it. And what he does is to close the air flow, open the top and fill. Then turn the top like a thread or two (before any pressure buildup), tip it upside down and then quickly tighten the top before any juice leaks out the top. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes I get a half of a ml of juice squirting out. So I just bottom fill those too.

problem with the Kfv4 is the spring that the connection passes through.. you got to consider that when a variance as low as 0.005ohms can alter performance you need something a tad more solid then a spring.
other tanks to consider would be the taifun gt 2, that is my personal MTL favorite.. it however is not top fill and can be tricky to build on
they recently released the kayfun mini v3, the authentic is about $100 but fasttech has a clone already for $12.. this one has all the bells and whistles without the drawbacks of the v4

Vicious Ant Kraken V2.5. Black wrinkle powder coated (wrinkles are generally the toughest powder coats). Coming soon...

Regards to the spring, the connection isn't just the spring, the 510 post also connects to the base of the airflow where the adjustment screw is. I think the spring is there to also assist in the raising of the deck to shut off the juice flow.

not really, I have one, the spring makes the connection, that is why they released a gold version to try and fix the issue.. if you are not running a TC build it is fine {albeit the filling operation does remind one of a super secret decoder ring ;)} it is still a fantastic tank, and many of its innovations were quickly replicated by other brands but it was engineered prior to temp limiting (TC)

just gonna throw this out there....
its been mentioned.. the kf4 is TERRIBLE for tc..
for mtl I use the following in order of my favorites
hurricane, erlkoengin, aqua v2, kfv4. The first three are great for tc, the first two specifically because they are single coil . The kfv4 even with the gold replacement spring is a pain to get working well. It seems a tad easier with the dna 200, but, not enough to justify it. The erlkoenigin (I the pic in nano mode with the blue tank) is phenominal if you like a kayfun vape. The hurricane is similar but its closer to taifun, in that its a "damper " and cooler vape.
