RDA questions

Hi guys and girls.

I have been vaping for a while now & got fed up with electronic devices playing up all the time, so I have finally brought myself a mechanical mod.

I have watched reviews on RDA's and would like to buy one to see if it's for me. A lad I work with uses one and told me you can't use fluids with over 6% nicotine in them. But he's a bit of a bull****er and I have seen nothing to back this up. I have been using around the 12% mark (depending on which flavor/brand I'm buying). Can someone tell me weather the 6% "rule" is true as I want to do it right.

Also any recommendations on which RDAs are better/ ones to avoid.

Any answers & views will be appreciated.

Anything over six you're gonna get a buzz and not a good buzz. I just started dripping and I'm down to 3.

I was a HEAVY tobacco user. Anything over six is just too much nicotine.

I think you mean 0.6 and 1.2 percent, or 6 and 12 mg/ml. 120 mg liquid would get very unpleasant very quickly, regardless of what device you're using.

That said, there are a few people who drip as high as 12 mg. I quickly cut my levels from 12 to 6 when I started, then cut again to 3.

As far as which RDA to get, there are a million people and a million answers. To get any good advice you're going to have to choose a few you're interested in and ask for help comparing them. Otherwise everyone is just going to chime in and tell you that what they have is the best because it's what they have.

It really depends on your build as far as nicotine is concerned , I use 24ml nic in my REO with a 1 ohm single coil and in my Veritas with a .7 ohm single coil , but dropping down to duals at .3 ohms , 24ml nic chokes me so I go to 6ml nic at that resistance . If you're cloud chasing at low ohms or high wattage you'll want the lower nic juice but if you're chasing flavor at higher ohms or lower wattage higher nicotine is no problem .

Thanks. I'm looking for more flavor than amount of vapor/clouds. So if I have a dual coil set up what ohms would work better with flavor ? I will start off with pre made coils if that makes any difference (I realize a lot depends on the atty itself and after watching some reviews I am looking at buying a Velocity RDA to use on a Tesla Invader 2 ).

I'm new to the whole rebuildable side of vaping, but feel it's time to hang with the big boys. It's just a case of getting my head around ohms and what batteries are safe to use.

That's my big things-to-consider-when-upgrading thread. It'll give you some basics on batteries, building, and some links to other threads I found helpful along the way.

So far as flavor chasing, you'll probably want a smaller RDA - a bigger chamber with tons of airflow is more about clouds than flavor. You can also build higher, I always recommend that people who've never built before start around 1-1.5 ohm and then work their way down from there after they've built a few successful coils.

What kind of wattage are you running on your regulated mod? With a mech, the only way to control power is to build your coils to achieve the desired result, so your preferred wattage will play a big role in where you'll want to end up build-wise.

Wow... Okay I read through that link and it has made me realize there is more to it than I thought and that I'm infact pretty clueless... I needed a pack of 20 just to try and work that all out haha. I think I'm probably safer to stick to the boring vaping equipment... Thanks for all your time & help anyway people, appreciate it :)

It can be fun getting into the technical stuff, but it can also be dangerous if you're not willing to put in the time to learn everything you need before you get started. Nothing wrong with sticking with what works if geeking out on all the science behind vaping isn't your thing, and there's nothing boring about the newer regulated equipment either!

The Velocity is a great atty but it's definitely geared towards chucking clouds , you should master single coil setups above 1 ohm before tackling duals and subohm . The Achilles is a really nice flavor chasing , single coil RDA , easy to build , huge capacity and it doesn't leak , you might wanna consider it .

6mg nic is ruff with some juice companies. I vape 12mg nic on my Lil ego style pens at 1.5 to 2.4 ohms at 3.8 volts. That taste fine with any juice to me. But once you start getting into higher power it all changes. Expecially with drippers. I fine that 3mg is safe on a rda with any juice I've tried so far, vape wild I just don't care much for most of their stuff at 6mg, but it's great at 3mg. But some of the more expensive stuff taste great at 6mg. I've found one company I can handle 12mg nic in my rda. Most are 3mg though. But I've only used 3mm dual coil between 4 and 5 ohms on my rda also.

I was a HEAVY SMOKER myself 3+ packs a day Marlboro Black/ Red 100's which I believe we're about 18 mg nicotine per cigarette. IMO it's about the person itself how much nicotine intake is enough for your body. I'm sure you can use whatever amount you choose but a simple fact is that when you drip person forgets how much intake of nic is really there and can come to nic poisoning. I hope this helps you

Cigs in general are between .5mg nic and 1.3mg nic per cig depending on length, manufacturer, flavor etc... the reds and black are between the .8 and 1.0 area I'm pretty sure. So to give you a idea on what to vape.
1 pack would be apron 20 MG of nice which would be pretty close to 2ml of 12mg ejuice. Or 3ml of 6mg ejuice would get you closer. That's per pack of cigs and these are ruff but pretty accurate estimates. So if you smoked 3 packs a day figure how much juice you like to vape a day (1ml,2ml,3ml,etc...) then determine the nice level from there, if that's to strong than raise the ml of juice and drop the MG of nic. I could get exact if needed.
I'd say 90% of the people I've met that vape, are not anywhere near their cig nic level per a day. But you also got to take into account bio behavior or nic absorbed. It's different in vape and cigs and I'm yet to get accurate figures on vape. But length that you hold in your smoke or vape plays a roll as well. I personally said fuck it on the scientific bs and just went off the ml and mg and was satisfied and I'm sure vape absorbs less than vape so I was doing better than expected as well. I'm not trying to quit so it's all irrelevant to me now. I vape 3mg to 6mg in a cloud making mamma jamma at aprox 2ml a day maybe 3. So I'm vaping anywhere from a quarter to a pack of cigs worth of nic a day and satisfied either way so there is plenty of wiggle room.
Plus I smell better
Breath better
And I'm pretty sure my dingaling grew an extra 7 inchs and my poo smells like jolly ranchers.

Thanks for the schooling but I'm very sure how much nice contains the cigs I smoked,(do some research before you try to school someone) with all respect I'm nice free. NICE lingual substitute for NICOTINE . And yes I feel great like I can pull the horns of a BULL, no kidding! Started with 18 mg Nicotine slowly cutting down to 0 mg Nicotine, I just vape
Now much less and for me it works with heavy juice since is satisfactory for me. But I did manage to get to the goal I set for myself. In FOUR MONTHS I'm smoke and nicotine free. But I do wish you good luck and of course keep on vaping......

Agree completely, it's all about the build and the individual. I'm using 24mg nic right now in my fat man RDA with dual coil, with a total 0.8ohm resistance. Usually I do 18 in this build, but today was one of those extra special days.

Here is a list. Let me know when you find a cigarette that has 18mg of nic.

Surely you learned something today. You see the chart right? Glad I could provide great schooling for you... Anytime you need info let me know I'll make sure to teach you properly.....with no sarcasam....

Thanks guys. I finally got all my kit arrive today and so far I'm already preferring the rda's with high vg juice, flavor is soooo much nicer. I took into account what was said in previous comments and got myself a Origen V2 for flavor hits and also the Velocity (clone) for clouds just to try both out. I brought some pre made coils for the time being just to get me started (a pack of 0.8ohms and a pack of 0.4ohms). In the Origen I set up just a single coil (after a lot of fidley work and swearing) which came up on the ohm meter at just shy of 0.9ohms & I'm fairly happy with how it's performing for now. In the Velocity I set up a dual coil build which came up at 0.21 ohms. I took the first few hits & was pretty impressed by the volume of vape cloud.. then I had a couple dry hits, when I popped it open to drip some more juice I realized that one of the coils had snapped/ broke about 1mm from the positive post, almost as if it had burnt a small piece out of the arm/leg/long piece of the coil.. I removed it but I haven't put another coil in yet as it's still chugging out the vape with the one coil but was wondering if this is something that just happens some times. Could it because they're pre made coils and could have been a dud one ? before I wicked it up it was glowing from the center outwards as it should but gave out after I juiced up.

It was set up on a tesla invader 2 with freshly charged, brand new Sony VTC5's if that makes any difference.

I'll just go head and say it.
Your a moron.
I didn't need your Lil chart, mine lists more than enuff.
With that said. I'm still looking for 18mg cigs.
My response with the chart was to simply show your idiocracy after a lame attempt at being a smart ass, and only showing how ignorant you are. You can flip your coin all day long, but you're your only competition. I'll just sit back and watch you run in circles as you try to catch your tail.

If I'm a moron like you say then you're absolute ignorant idiot yourself. I don't know what is your beef but I can see you're low on intelligence, so with that said just foff and do what you were doing and stay away from me. OK DO YOU HAVE INTELIGENCE TO COMPREHEND THIS.???
