The 1980s cartoon The Real Ghostbusters has gotten a 3D animation homage.
The studio Zim Animation (as reported by Nerdist) made a shot-for-shot recreation of the cartoon intro theme, including the Ray Parker Jr. theme song that was borrowed from the films. You can see the intro, as well as a side-by-side comparison, below:
The Real Ghostbusters ran for seven years starting in 1986, and loosely followed the film series with the same characters--Egon's wall of hair notwithstanding. The "real" was added so as to avoid confusion with Filmation's "Ghost Busters," based on a 1970s live-action TV show.
