I made a vanilla custard recipe is all FlavourArt concentrates apart from simply vanilla which is Cappella
Vanilla custard 5%
Simply vanilla 2%
Meringue 3%
Vienna cream 2%
Caramel 1%
I know FlavourArt is strong however after making juice it's not right just doesn't taste like custard it's more like a sweet muted no real flavour can someone on here give me a heads up on what to tweak on the recipe as I love my custards
It's been steeping for a while now but it will be steeped for longer

i am no expert
but my guess is you have TOO MUCH and it overwhelming each other.

Some of the most flavorful and complex FA only recipes have a total of about 8% flavor with as many as 10 ingredients

Cappella on the other hand usually need 5-15% for one flavor

so start by cutting all your FA flavors in half and up the cap flavor to 3% to start with

then

once you have that
you can start to add flavor to that if you get no flavor

Based on what Mattp169 and Squonk have mentioned along with a little tweaking, maybe try this out...

Vanilla Custard 8% - 10%
Simply Vanilla 5% (I have not used this before but this is where I would likely start)
Meringue 1%
Vienna Cream 1%
Caramel 1%

is vanilla custard FA or cap?
if its FA-- no way thats too high

you should always start with less in a recipe.
you can add some mor eof it if you cant taste it by adding a drop or 2 to your tank

I think the Vanilla Custard is Capella because I don't think FA has that, but I could be wrong.
I agree that if it is FA that is way too high!

As for starting less in a recipe, again... I agree with this as well.

Happy mixing!!

Flavor Art Custard is very different from any other brand's "vanilla custard" flavor. FA Custard is a creamy flavor with slight lemon but cannot be used as a substitute for vanilla custard. Also, 5% is high, as everyone else has said.

For a vanilla custard flavor like you are probably expecting, you could use everything else you have in the recipe, as is, but remove the fa custard and add around 8% vanilla custard--cap or tfa. I'd also take the meringue down from 3 to 1%, personally. Good luck!

ca or tfa Vanilla Custard 8%
ca Simply vanilla 2%
fa Meringue 1%
fa Vienna cream 2%
fa Caramel 1%

It says vanilla custard on the bottle ordered from the website with other flavours from them, I have been told it's got a light lemon taste to it hence mixing it with the other vanilla flavour but with all of them mixed together it's just a sweet non flavour liquid, I've made the caramel egg nog from HIC recipe the stronger version and that's the same no real flavour to it and that's a shake and vape recipe

Where did you order it from? Are you shaking your flavors before mixing? I'm perplexed.

http://www.flavourart.co.uk That's where got my concentrates from, I've msged HIC with some help aswell as he uses FA if im not happy with my next batch of mixes I'm going to go to another maker for my concentrates but hopefully it's not going to get to that

Yeah but with vannila custard it says it's a stand alone flavour or can be used with others, my main vape is a vanilla custard I like the strong creamy desert taste that I get from pre made but with wanting to mix my own I chose from FA because you get 6 10ml bottles for ÂŁ16 so I mixed and matched but HIC says they don't do a vanilla custard but gave him website addy to check plus where to check, hopefully I will get some clarity on this, I'm just disappointed with wanting to get into mixing and having muted flavours, I'm not gonna give up, might have to go to another brand for my next batch of concentrates but I heard good things about FA and you don't have to use much of the concentrates, I know I'm not gonna get a perfect mix straight away but thought I would get some flavour coming through

Most of the flavors you're using are more like additives, for lack of a better term.
You need a stronger main flavor, either CAP Vanilla Custard v1 if you're after a good Custard.
Or add some fruit like Blueberry, etc. to what you have.
Doubt you'll get much flavor without something else.

And, yes the Meringue should be around 1%.

CAP Simply Vanilla is not one of the better ones to be using, or use maybe 1%.

CAP Vanilla Custard v1 (gold standard for custards):D
CAP NY Cheesecake
TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust
TFA Vanilla Swirl
TFA French Vanilla Deluxe
TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream v1
TFA Brown Sugar
FA Vanilla Classic
FA Coconut (best of the best)(adds a butter effect when used in lower amounts like 0.5%)
HS Cream
TFA or CAP Sweet Cream

Don't get caught up with the "FA is better than anything else disease".
Every flavor company has winners and losers...

Just my 3 cents worth

Flavour Arts UK custard concentrate should say "custard cream" on the label. Custard Pi and Vanilla Custard are pre-mixed by the people that run the uk fa site so there is other stuff in them (custard pi I ordered in error myself as the custard and it tastes to me like custard, apple pie crust and caramel). So your 5% FA Vanilla Custard for example could mean your recipe only has 2-3% of the custard in and shed loads of vienna cream and meringue that have been added to the vanilla custard premix they made, which probably would just make it very sweet cream

I'd also agree with Heabobs comments, I dont get much of a lemon taste from the FA custard, but I do just find it a very plain custard, which isnt such a bad thing. I do like adding it in small amounts to add cream to fruit recipes and to boost citrus fruit flavours, as Hweadbob says, its really an additive rather than a straight up custard base. For a vanilla custard recipe I dont really think FA custard really is going to give you what you are after. I think if you look on here you will probably hardly find a single custard recipe that just uses FA custard, which speaks for itself

TFA Butterscotch
FA Butterscotch
TFA Caramel (original)
CAP Caramel

CAP Cake Batter
CAP Creamy Yogurt (some like it, some don't)
FA Brandy
FA Jamaican Rum
FA Chocolate
FA Cocoa
TFA Berry Crunch
NF Rasta Root Beer
CAP Peanut Butter v1 (not v2)
TFA Peanut Butter (mixed with CAP)

That should keep ya busy for awhile:D.
I could keep going but I'm tired out now;).
Probably missed a few, lol. (like FA Walnut & Nut Mix)

I didn't mention any Strawberry, Raspberry, Cherry, and Cranberry cause I just can't vape them.

Everyone finds their favorites eventually but buy the smallest sizes you can get.
Get the bigger ones later when you find you're "niche".
Mix up small batches to try first, don't make 120ml.

I like Caps Sweet Strawberry, FA Cherry with FA Black Cherry, and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE TFA Cranberry.

Funny as I like to eat all those things, well maybe not the Cranberries:eek:.
Vaping them is just too weird to me.
Strawberry & Cherry were in the first batch of flavorings I'd ever ordered cause I thought they would be really good.
Kind-of a let down for a new DIYer.
I also struggled with the Chocolates early on, but then found the FA versions, and finally could make a decent Chocolate Vape.
I just like the Blueberry/Blackberry and Citrus types best, or anything that isn't red.

Lol, shows how different we all are...

But then again, I don't taste any tobacco in FA Joy either:D.
Well, maybe just a tiny bit:p.

I've always stayed away from tabacco flavours especially when I first started vaping as I thought I may go back to smoking, tried some a while ago and hate tabacco flavours so I stay away from them, as I started with fruit and desert styles I've carried on with them so I love sweet and creamy flavours
