Releaux RX200 or Kbox 200

I'm considering buying one of these two mods, but trying to determine which will best fit my needs. I've only owned integrated battery mods, so this will be my first replaceable battery mod. Currently I'm using an Evic VT 60w and have found the need for much more wattage for all the ultra low sub ohm coils out with most of the newer sub ohm tanks.
I'm looking for simplicity, as both these.mods.offer balanced usb charging and upgradable firmware .

So of the following, which do you prefer and why ?

Kanger Kbox 200w (2 x18650's)
Alleged upgradable firmware
OR
Wismec Releaux RX200 (3x 18650's)
Also upgradable firmware

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Wismec will be more accurate, with more features and longevity. Also it will be more complicated.
The kanger will be MUCH easier to use, and accurate to a point. The inaccuracy wont manifest itself until you're in the the 90-100+ watt range and even there probably be unnoticeable. The Kbox has a 120w version that is dynamite!!! The real advantage is going to be the battery life on the RX, that third battery is going to give you more runtime.
However, I have seen mixed reports of avoiding the onboard charger. which to me is no biggie, I avoid onboard chargers altogether, and always advise anyone to do the same. Beyond the safety issue, is the fact that that the tiny little piece of electronics is only held on by a pair of pin size solder points; and, if they by chance break you'll be getting an extra charger anyway. plus if it breaks you can't upgrade.

Get an external charger for which ever one you choose... Having a second set of batteries is also a plus.

I got a Kbox 200w. It's dead simple to use. My only gripe is the 510 pin seems to be a bit on the shallow side. If you have attys with a longer 510 it can be annoying. But I've been pretty happy with it overall

I own neither, but I'm going to suggest, given the highlighted part above, that you'd be happier with the RX200. I think you'd also be well-advised to also obtain a good external charger, such as something from either Nitecore or Xtar. Buy good batteries, as well. Shun anything with "fire" as part of the name. If you're vaping a lot you may want a second set of batteries.

That would be the main difference for me. Other than the size. Either you get 4 or 6 batteries. & don't charge them onboard

Yup.

I've yet to see anybody present any actual evidence that using on-board charging is in any way deleterious to the mod or the batteries, or unsafe.

It's like the "married batteries" mantra. Yes: It is best to use together batteries in like condition. (I.e.: Roughly same age and usage pattern, and approximately equivalent charge levels when installed.) But they don't need to be "married" for life. Furthermore: While "marrying" them will make it easier to help ensure they are in roughly the same condition, it does not guarantee it. Every once-in-a-while, when batteries are removed for charging, it's wise to check each battery's charge level, independently, and again after they're fully charged and rested for a bit. Even batteries out of the same lot can degrade at different rates.

I look at it this way......

Why take any unnecessary chances with safety?

We are under the Microscope as it is, as a community. This why we preach learning ohms law and battery safety before getting into high power. Using married set of batteries, is not just a recommendation, that's a power management and safety precaution from other higher power applications. It ensures that the batteries stay at the same level throughout their life. Running this much power is already pushing the batteries limits, and they are stacked which adds more stress to them. The inboard charger thing I specified not to be used because if you lose the Usb you lose upgradeability for one. For two, there was a video shown that illustrated the Rx charger to be in question. A decent charger is 15-20$ compared to the cost of another mod and a small layer of precaution, that is a small Investment. Like old badditude told me when I got my first mod, you're spending much more on the rest of your gear, take care of your batteries, since that's the heart of the whole thing. Nothing is guaranteed to go wrong but lets not temp fate.

i feel the same about the 510 pin ... so crappy !

use the usb port for firmware upgrades ... but that is if Kanger ever will release SW for it ... LOL

Ah. This I did not know. Now the RX has dropped a notch on my short list. If they didn't take care to make certain the charging circuitry was 100% right, than how can I trust any of the rest of the circuitry? As you note, we're dealing with a lot of potential energy.

A decent charger is 15-20$ compared to the cost of another mod and a small layer of precaution, that is a small Investment.

Could get a 6 bay maybe, havn't made my mind up yet, lol

I second that. Reuleaux is a favorite among many people for good reason. It's plasticky but an aftermarket, so to speak, silicone sleeve of quality will hide that only issue I personally have with it. It bothered me a lot at first, mostly disappointed since it is such a beast. Definitely cannot tell someone to spend any money at all on a KBOX given so many alternatives

But hopefully the I4 is different. It happens loading the charger with batteries. The metal plunger things behave like rusty parts but they're not. I needed a 4bay charger this weekend anyway so XTAR VC4 was a choice I'm glad to have made as the one to get.

My i2, which I ran for almost a year before going LUC 4, did have a tight snap with batteries, but as long as I pulled the negative pin down all the way and carefully inserted/removed batteries I never had an issue with wrapper wear. I've never, in fact, worn out a wrapper before the cell has deteriorated to the point I no longer felt it worth keeping in rotation.

On the mod topic, I've got the Kbox 120 and love it in power mode, but in TC mode can't figure out how to adjust wattage - this has pissed me off along with a couple other owners I've talked to, as it ramps the coils up too high and then begins pulsing noticeably, making the vape even less consistent than a power-mode vape and (I'm told) prematurely wearing out my coil heads.

don't know if this is still a current subject but just wanted to throw my two cents into the mix. I just got a Releaux RX 200 in the mail TODAY. I'm waiting on the batteries to complete charge. I did a whole lot of research about this vape, I too had problems trying to decide which unit I wanted. I read a lot and ask ALL the local vape shop keepers their opinions, one of the questions I ask was about charging and why did I need an external charger. I was told that trying to charge the batteries while inside the unit could cause the chip to be damaged. I got a battery charger for like 17.00 or so and that's a lot cheaper than buying a new vape.

Also, and not to put down local vape shops, I don't know where I would be without them, but I found that I could buy a Releaux RX200 a whole lot cheaper on line rather than at local shops, they claim its over head that makes their prices so very much higher (all most triple), I guess and I will continue to support my local vape shops but being on a fixed income trying to quite smoking I just did not have lots of extra money to put into the vape, I'd rather spend what money I can on vape juice and that I buy at local shops, you just cant taste test it on line.

If TC is a concern get the RX. Do a quick YouTube search on the Kanger and you will see that it doesn't do SS very well, let alone nichrome. I'll also suggest the IPV5. It's not without its issues but it's a very accurate mod.

Love the Releaux form factor and build quality. You can sit in on the table and not worry about it falling over. Can't say the same about the Kbox!

It's ok.... I also got the Smok R200 ($38 with shipping on ecig.com)....couldn't pass up on the price... I'm really liking the R200.

I have a small MOD (50w) and a larger MOD (100w) and sometimes the button will stick on them....burned my leg once (not bad, but enough to piss me off). The quality is just not there in my opinion. I would go with the RX200 if I had the choice to do it over again.

I never had an issue with Kanger equipment. The kbox 200 is a solid mod I do like the way it feels in the hand, it's got a great placing for the firing button... it feels right so I'm diggin it

I can't speak for the Kbox, but it does look pretty solid. I love my RX though. 3 batteries gives it great run time. With a 4 bay charger and an extra set of batteries on standby you'll always be good to go. It fits very well in the hand, but it's size could be an issue for some when carrying it around all day. It's a little thing, but I also like that it sits well in a cup holder without wanting to tip so easily (even with the Crown tank on top). It should hold tanks up to 25mm without any overhang.
Having said that, when I am out and about I run tanks or RDA's with 0.5+ohm builds at lower watts on my iPV D2 for portability. I also like that it is a single battery since the RX batteries leave one open slot on the charger. Having 2 mods for different uses is the ideal setup IMO.

I own both BOX, the KBOX 120 is cheap, light, and for the price it's OK...paint sucks!!
