Repairing 510 post

My Goblin Mini V2's 510 post was damaged yesterday and Upon inspection w/ magnification I can see a slight bend to the threading right at the begining, thus why it won't make it's initial grab. I order a 7mm .5 die thininkin I could just clean up that thread and it would work again. Ayone have experience and/or success doing this?

I've got a sneaking suspicsion that UD is using some real low quality metal for their Goblin Mini v2. This is the second occurance of its threading being damaged. First it was the top cap becoming stripped and now, from a tiny fall, mod just tipped over as I placed it on my desk, the GM's 510 post was damaged. I didn't realize this had happened until later in the day when I unscrewed the Goblin and then attempted screw it back in. It won't grab! Unless me re-threading the post works I'm not going to re-purchase this tank again. Just soooo many issues from the get go, first was stuck screws, then the wicking learning curve, then filling technique, then stripped top cap, sent back for warrent, returned, a month of flavor bliss and now damaged post! Jeez, I can't keep this thing going!

That's a shame. The v1 was a good little tank. (although the screws were obscenely tight on that one too straight out of the box.)

The 7mm x .5 die arrived last night, screwed it on and off the post twice and it still doesn't grab onto my mods 510. Shoot!

I didn't see this thread until now or I would have commented earlier.

I didn't realize this had happened until later in the day when I unscrewed the Goblin and then attempted screw it back in. It won't grab!

If a thread doesn't grab, either the male thread is too small or the female thread is too big. Cleaning up the male thread can help if it is cross threaded or too big, in which case it won't screw on.

Then again, it could be the mod's thread is a bit big. If you have another mod you can try the Goblin on I would try it but don't screw it on too tight. If the Goblin's thread is small you could damage the other mod's 510 thread.

I don't have another Mod, though I do have another atty and it still screws on fine.

You could try coating the 510 threads in solder then send it through the die again. Silver solder, perhaps.

That's a neat repair idea Droogbc, but if anyone should try this there is a plastic insulator in the 510 connector which will degrade and eventually melt if you get it too hot. When that happens the connector can short. Silver solder requires quite a bit of heat to solder too.

For around $20 it's probably safer just to move on.

Probably a good idea to disassemble it first to avoid melting the insulator.

Try a thread file which have 8 different thread sizes and you manually repair the thread by actually filing them.

I have 2 Rogue Mech mods, and the threads on both are stripped since i bought used instead of new, any ideas on how to repair that if at all possible?
