repairing a loose jfc or afc on a griffin 22mm

SO ive dropped one of my griffins several times now and there was actually about a 1/4 gap between the knurled jfc ring and the afc ring.

Its a simple fix. you just need a vise

insert the deck so that one post of the deck is touching one side of the vise while the opposite of the vise can push against the flat part of the base - NOT THE 510 connection. Then simply close the vise very very slowly squeezing the flat base back into the deck. Be careful not to over tighten the vise

Then flip the deck so the other post is in the vise and repeat the process.

Ive done this twice now and it works like a charm and this griffin now works exactly like my 2 brand new used griffins

i actually tried that. and wasn't successful. I was also concerned about damaging the posts doing that.
Nah dude
It won't break trust me
Flip it
Bang a couple of times
You should be good to go

I've found that the positive post pin will work itself loose over time and/or if you drop you rig from time to time, as my clumsy ass is apt to do.

If you remove the 510 pin, you can pop the deck out of the base with a little effort as it is just a press fit.

The AFC ring and bottom piece will separate and its a perfect time for some spring cleaning and o-ring inspection in the area that never sees the light of day.

Once the deck is out, flip it over and tighten the copper nut/screw that holds the positive post to the deck, and then reassemble.

You will need to tap or press the deck back into the base to get it to seat before replacing the 510. Be SURE it seats COMPLETELY!

Be mindful not to bugger up any threads, and make sure the AFC ring lines back up with the stop post on the base.

My Griffin 22 was very loose and starting to weep juice around the AFC ring, and this maintence method got it back working as good and tight as new.

Hope this helps.

I think i busted something while doing this, I think its just the wicking ring. I need to get a new one to be sure its just that. Tank screws in fine if i have it off but once i put the ring back on it gets hard to screw the tank in. Im hoping i am right. Be a real shame if i messed this guy up.

I have read where some people will actually remove that ring and wick without it. One of those annoying video review guys ( I can't remember which) said the he thought the Griffin wicked better without that ring in place.
