So I'm sitting at work and I get an Idea... "I have a kanger Clapton coilhead that the cotton is all used up and would it be cool if I can use the coil since they are still good and rewrap them?" What I did was removed the wire from the shell straightened it out, and rewrapped it around a 2.5(ish) mm needle. I haven't tested out the Ohms or checked for hot spots because 1) full tank 2) no spare cotton 3) no tools lol... Has this been discussed anywhere?

repurposing coils viable?

You could just rebuild the head. Wire isnt that expensive, do yourself a favor and pick up a 25ft spool of 24g or 26g and a 100ft spool of 34g or 36g. It should be around $9-$11 together on Ebay and then you can make your own claptons (I dont trust manufactures claptons myself). You can rebuild the heads or use them in anything afterwards. If you dont know how then Ill post a tut, its really easy to learn how.
Usually, when something like that has been done, you can find one to many videos on YouTube.
I figured its no big deal to start from scratch, I just seem to learn better when I take something apart and put it back together. Kind of like ok this is how it is, lets take it apart and see if we can improve and maybe learn something along the way, that's how I ended up with a .3 build on single coil. Wire was a bit to big so I unraveled and rewrapped. just getting myself more comfortable and familiar with the process before I go balls to the wall.
