And with that, Rick and Morty is back for Season 2. It quickly became clear the show hasn't lost its touch in the 15-month gap since Season 1 wrapped. "A Rickle in Time" had it all - a bizarre premise that grew increasingly ridiculous over time, plenty of hilarious character interaction and a surprising amount of emotional weight. In short, this was a great way to kick off the new season.
Generally, most Rick and Morty episodes are pretty standalone, with only a handful of elements creating anything resembling a running storyline. So it was a treat to see that this episode picked up right where "Ricksy Business" left off last year and acknowledged the fallout of Rick's raucous house party. Rick, Morty and Summer have spent six months frozen in time and getting the house back into some semblance of order. That level of time-muckery has consequences, because science. The humor started out on a very strong note as the trio had to welcome Beth and Jerry back home while desperately avoiding any sort of physical contact. Luckily for them, tossing a wad of "untraceable monies" and suggesting an ice cream run seemed to do the trick.
