Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...
Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers doesn't have the deepest plot (so far), or the most likable main character. Luckily, it makes up for that with exciting combat and clever art direction. It also has a great setting, one I've seen used in only a handful of anime. The premiere may stumble a bit at times, but Rokka is worth a look.
The episode takes place in Piena, an Aztec-looking kingdom full of multi-tiered temples and beautiful waterfalls. I absolutely love this venue; it's nice to see Tokyo swapped out for Tenochtitlan. I also like the populace, a colorfully dressed people that worship the Goddess of Fate and await the arrival of six heroes (Braves) destined to fight the Demon God terrorizing their land. The premiere introduces us to two of the warriors, one likable and one...not so much.
